How Direct TV ropes you into a 5 year commitment

I had dish network till they jacked up the programming fees in 10 months (Jan.-Oct. 2014) and removed 6 channels from my subscription. I signed up with Direct TV for a (24 month agreement) package which had the channels I lost with Dish. There was a $300 deposit in lieu of providing your SSI#. I was told it would be refunded in monthly credit. I’m sure they probably told me the amount, but with all the other info of cost, fees and service that gets quickly rattled off (as the guys can do so well) you would figure the guys would be honest and guide you in the right direction. When I got my first bill over a month later, I saw they were providing me a credit of $5 per month for 60 months, not dividing it into the 24 month contract I sign up for (which would be $12.50 to get it paid in 24 months) . I called today 11-26-14 (on the phone for 1hr & 6 min.) seeking help with understanding and correcting this. I did advise my first contact Krista I was recording this conversation. We talked about 9 min. about this, she informed me that she would need to put me thru to someone in billing. Next was Kyle, we talked about 15 min. She agreed that did not sound/seemed right but could not help me I requested her to put me thru to the next agent that could possibly help me. Next was Tamara we talked for about 31 min. She explained that this is what it is and that it was correct and she could not make any changes/adjustments and I would be sacrificing $280 if I did not continue my service for 60 months. I’m getting really pissed now, I ask to speak to someone else that might be able to help. Next was Rodriguez we spoke about 11 min. He informed me Tamara was correct and that he could not help me either. Rodriguez when on to go off subject and say that I should be looking forward for the specials I would qualify for if I make all my payments on time. I told him this has nothing to do with the $280. He just went on and on about all the specials I would qualify for if I make all my payments on time. I asked to be transferred to someone else. I was put on hold and never heard from anyone else.
