They are running a phone extortion racket.

There is no "loan", no "legal action", they aren't "attorneys", or "investigators", and they can't "arrest" you.

They are just crooks, probably using cheap VoIP so they can keep changing their numbers.
If they have thick accents, they are probably calling from India or Pakistan.

Abuse, harassment, and threats, including harassment and threats to your employer or coworkers, are the usual tactics used in this type of extortion.  They feel safe to do all of this, over the phone, since they don't believe there is anything anyone can do to them.

FTC actually sued one of these groups that was being run from southern California but using an Indian call center, a couple months ago, but there are also "solo" extortionists running this scam.

Although they may have obtained information from some fake online "payday loan application" website, or through old payday loan records that have apparently found their way to these crooks, possibly through Indian call centers used by payday loan debt collectors, if you never applied there, they might just be searching the internet for information to use in targeting this scam.

They are generally trying to use their threats to intimidate people, and if the victims ask questions or supply any information, they will weave that into the con to pretend they are collecting on some old debt you might remember.

There is nothing you did to deserve this, and any of your coworkers could find themselves subject to the exact same scam.

Contact the FBI, for all the good it will do.  Maybe they can provide some advice to your employer on how to train your fellow employees on how to handle this racket.

Just hanging up is one way.  Or tell them the call is being recorded by the FBI.
