unauthorized debit card purchase
Complaint
Sheila
Country: United States
I received a call from the bank on 01/07/08 informing me that my bank account had been compromised. The DRI* company posted $79.95 amount to my account. I do not know of this company and did not authorize such purchase.

Dispute all fraudulent charges immediately through your bank, and close and block your card number to prevent additional fraud. Follow up by disputing IN WRITING, sending your dispute to your bank's dispute address from your statement, and make sure they receive your written dispute within 60 days of the statement date of the statement showing the disputed charge to preserve your FRB Reg. E dispute rights.
The company appears to be a legitmate developer and seller of anti-spyware and anti-virus products, but also appears to allow on-line purchases with downloaded delivery, using DRI as their payment processor. This may make them a target for use of stolen credit and debit card numbers.
Do you routinely use debit cards, check cards, or provide your checking account number for "phone checks"?
If so, STOP! Block all debit or check cards.
In case of fraud, they present a risk of loss due to overdraft fees and bounced legitimate payments from your checking account, even when you get your money back.
Use ONLY credit cards for on-line or retail purchases, to minimize your risk of loss in cases of fraud. Use checks ONLY for payments to companies you already know and trust, such as rent, mortgage, utilities, banks. Use ATM cards requiring a PIN ONLY at your bank's own ATM machine.
the website also says that they won an award for email security from homeland security. this is [***]. they need to be stopped!!! is the government behind this?
or an activation code. I have both in dispute with the banks.D3E8
Now, if your card info was stolen by some group of hackers, or your family, they can buy whatever from whoever.
Folks buy digital products, then resell them on ebay / amazon. Easy way to make real cash twice.
To Whom It May Concern.
I recently purchased ($34.95) a new License for my virus protection program on my PC. When I tried to download I realized that it was the program designed for a mobile phone. I went ahead and canceled it and bought the right one this time for $69.95. However you charged me for both. Please correct this error and credit me for $ 34.95. Thanking you in advance, I remain
Yours sincerely,

I also repeatedly emailed them to cancel auto-renewal to the anti-virus (because it was so bad), got no assistance with that and then they still took payment of £36. It's the worst anti-virus software I've ever had and they have took the piss by then trying to renew my licence for another 2 years against mu wishes.
Looks like this has been going on for a few years at least now.
Could Kapersky's program be finding out my credit card numbers when I buy products on line? If so, it's ironic protection software itself is dangerous.
