Soliciting iTunes cards for government grants

Received 3 phone calls today from the following phone numbers, 206-212-1082 (Joe Simpson), 259-245-2484(female) and 360-285-3635 (Jason Sanchez) indicating I qualified for a grant totaling $12,450 and in order for it to be deposited into my account, all I needed to do was purchase 3 iTunes gift cards in the increments of $220, $150 and $500 dollars.
Not really thinking it was a scam, I purchased the first card of $220 and called the number 206-212-1082 and they immediately wiped out the card, it was also at that point they indicated I needed to purchase the additional 2 cards in order to receive the grant.
That was when I reached out for assistance and discovered it was a scam. I called the second number 360-285-3635 and pretended that I had purchased the additional cards and gave him (Jason Sanchez) the number from the 1st card and he became very hostile and irate. Not to mention he didn't want me to seek assistance from the cashier and indicated he would cancel the grant if I did. Once I revealed I had figured out it was a scam, he became verbally abusive and yelled explicit comments.such as, "I'm going to put my d**k in your mouth", "You are Son of a b**ch", "You are an a**hole" and "kiss your mother p***y".
I know to some, I shouldn't have been so naive but this is a lesson learned for me and I'm not letting it stop there.
I reported the fraud to iTunes, filing a police report through my local sheriff's office and I'm filling a report with the General Attorney's office.
