I bought two tv's from Best buy and my latest one was a 36 months same as cash/ signed the paperwork, then setup autopay of the balance divided by 33 months. Then after 30 months decided i wanted to buy laptop and put on same as cashs, but found i have been charged over 500 in credit protection that i never signed up for,Spent hours trying to get thru and was transfered to several departments and was discounted everytime when i was getting thru to the credit proptection department. how can you be charged for something that you don't need or want and try to cancel but are denied. NEVER BUY BEST BUY

HSBC has a history of complaints of cramming "credit protection" onto customer accounts without authorization.

Also beware that they will probably not notify you as the "same as cash" period ends, and if you don't have the balance paid off before the period ends, they will pile back on all the accrued interest that you thought you were avoiding, at their absurd store card rate.

Contact your state Attorney General for assistance.

Never use store cards, or finance through store cards.  Separate your credit and borrowing from your purchasing.  You don't want your bank in bed with someone you are buying from.

Wow..it's disheartening to know this scam is STILL going on...I got taken for this back in 2008...and even posted it here..I was able to recover my money though after I threatened them with a lawyer and was able to produce my original paperwork proving I never checked the box saying I wanted "Debt cancellation insurance"...you have to watch the employee enter your info into the computer at Best Buy, they will check to box off saying you want it, even if you didnt because they get extra commission for it!

Six Months same as cash, what a racket.  upon receipt of my first statement, I set up my equally divided payments to pay off my $292.00 purchase within the 6 months period to take advantage of the "same-as- cash" offer.  How suprised was I, when I was charged interest for the entire purchase, the subsequent and 7th month.  I called Customer Service & was told that the six months began, the date I purchased the product & not the date of the payment required, shown on the statement.  I had set the payment up to pay early, due date the 4th, pay on the 30th, automatically, through HSBC/Bets Buy electronic payment system, an alleged win/win for all, but, only HSBC won. Also, when I contacted customer service, I was placed on hold by one rep, so I could speak with someone else, but was disconnected. I called back and spoke with another less than friendly, but, sanctimonious and condescending individual and received no satisfaction.  I have since cancelled my credit card and both HSBC & Best Buy have lost my future business, all for a $24.22 interest payment.  After reading complaints from other people, like me, I am sure your competitors will thank-you for OUR business.

i wanted to purchase two asus transformer prime. i wanted to use flexi comprass to purchase the tablets. I checked with both flexi comprass and store personnel to make sure i could still purchase the product. i explained that i was from another area and was mtod it was ok to do so. after traviling for five hours, one way, i get to the store to find out that the operations manager told me a lie. he assured me that it was ok before the drive. after reaching the store i was sent on  my way back without product traviling 5 hrs home. Harry in Las Cruses, nm, harry says im not famiiliar with flexi comprass procedures. i asked him over and over again why didn't get the proper info and  was just blown off. flexi comprass and best buy make great partners. there a joke. all i have to show for their ineptness is out $150.00 for gas and food.

My husband and I bought a computer years ago at Best Buy in Cedar Falls, Iowa - 6 months interest free.  We paid the computer off on the 5th month.  We got a bill in the mail two or three months following our last payment stating that we owed about $100.00 in interest for not having paid the computer within 6 months!!  I called our local Best Buy and talked to customer services asking them to review our payments and they realized that we indeed made all our payments within the timeframe.  The worst part of the story is that Best Buy reported us to one of the three credit bureaus and it took us a while to get that off our credit report!!  That was a big headache and we did not get any compensation for all the trouble we went through. I often wonder if there are any competent and honest businesses out there.
