SCAM TEXT MESSAGE from Jefferson Financial

954-964-7482 - Received yet ANOTHER Scam Text Message supposedly from JEFFERSON FINANCIAL, stating "MSG:JEFFERSON FINANCIAL@mail.vcitynet.com - Jefferson Financial Alert. Unusual activity - Call NOW at 1-(954) 964-7482".   I do NOT have an account with them, so I know it's a SCAM! This time the text message came from 1010100003 - instead of 1010100001 or 1010100002, and the number listed to call this time around is 954-964-7482, instead of 312-238-9403 or 888-691-3145 like last time.   I WILL be reporting this number and text message to AT&T, the FTC, and Jefferson Financial as well.

    As you have already noted, these text messages appear to be associated with phishing attempts, using a variety of return phone numbers probably to attempt to spoof callers into revealing account information.  

    The 101 numbers that the text messages appear to originate from are reported to indicate that some free site is used to send them.  It is not surprising that scammers phishing with text messages would use a free site to send them anonymously.  They are already depending on reaching unsophisticated targets who would fail to recognize that the message is phony, but because they would need to send out many to catch a few, they would have to hide their trail.

    Odds are the phone numbers are untracable cell phones as well, but it appears that in at least one report, complaints got the number shut down.

    About all you could effectively do to drive their costs up would be to determine the cell phone provider, and file phishing complaints with them against the phone number they say to call in the text message.  

    It is unlikely that FCC or any law enforcement would act fast enough to make a difference.

    I received 3 text messages from them in the past two days saying that my account has been suspended due suspicious activities and that I should call them right away.  I called one of the numbers, just to tell them they had made a mistake and I got a recording that said that the number had been disconnected due to phishing activities."

    Hope it helps you guys... txtdrop.com sends out messages from this number.  I just tried out the service a couple of days ago, tested it on my phone, and this is the number the texts comes from.  It's a place that you can send text messages for free from their website.

    MSG: I've been expecting you my love. :)

    "I'm starting to believe that, this is a number where ANONYMOUS text messages come from. If anyone has ever heard of BLOCKING text messages; maybe this is the PRIVATE number that blocked text messages/anonymous people use? I'm not f***ing sure -_-
