gets stuck in sensor mode

Maytag top loading washing machine - 2 years old.  Problems - only handles small loads - two regular size bath towels and it's out of balance, immediately,   Gets stuck in sensor mode.  i'm old with new hip replacement and can't go up and down stairs all the time to see if it's working.  This machine is not worth the money at all.  I can't really afford a repair nor a new machine ..... is Maytag doing anything about the poor quality of their new washers?   Matching Maytag dryer had problems with door not shutting after one month ........ not good products.
