I have just purchased a Maytag washer dryer comb model # YMET3800XW, and I am VERY unhappy with it's performance. It is a large load machine but you can only fill it half full of water. This just doesn't get a full load clean. It hardly gets them wet. I realize that low water is okay with front load machines, but this is a top load machine and half of the gyrator is sticking out of the water. If I wanted to do small loads, I would have bought a smaller machine. I sent an email to Maytag after the first time I used it, I've made phone calls to the Dealer, The Maytag Store Oakville, and the head office in Tennessee, Jamie #3241. They just say sorry, we have no "buyers' remorse policy." I feel sick, this is the biggest waste of $1731.16  :'(  The store even told me that, "you don't REALLY need water to wash clothes, just soap, and a 'bit' of water." ????  (He actually hug up on me.) Other than having to fill my new machine with buckets of water, do you know if there is ANY way to over-ride this problem? It also has a water temp control, so if you choose hot water it will add cold at high speeds and it shakes the pipes. I feel brutal, that I can not pick the water level appropriate for the clothes or the water temperature. The troubleshooting page just says, 'use smaller loads.' So instead of 5 loads a week I have to do 15 loads, and that is supposed to be more environmentally friendly.

RE; Maytag washers that "under " perform #model # YMET3800XW

Do you know of a way to over-ride the restrictions of the water level and water temperature?
When I do my wash “I” would like to be in control, not the government, as the Maytag Head Office states. (I never thought I would see the day that the government would be in the laundry room!) And trust me I do like being environmentally friendly, but this is counterproductive.
It’s not like a car that you can test dirve. As soon as I used in once, I knew there was a problem and I emailed them on their website under ‘contact us’ . That was Friday April 26, 2013, and they are asking me to email them again, but they haven’t responded to the first one.
I did call the Dealer once and he told me not to call back again, and he hung up on me.  I do understand his plight, as Maytag doesn’t seem to have an answer to my problem., and he is only selling the product, not producing it.  According to Maytag  no one has ever Ever ,EVER, mentioned this before. Everyone in the entire known world loves this except me. All I want to do is to control the volume and temp on my wash like I’ve done for years and that doesn’t seem like much to ask.  If Maytag would just send someone over to fix it, I would be singing their praises!!! Right now I am washing ONE baby blanket as that is all I can get clean with only 4 inches of rinse water. It seems like such a waste of water and power, I just hope I have warned people not to use Maytag so others will not fall into this trap.

Hi Joy - Obviously you didn't know you were purchasing a "HE" (high efficiency) machine, which are being produced more & more now.  The complaints for these machines regardless of brand are endless, from clothes not being cleaned, clothes are in knots when the cycle is done, mold/mildew, & clothes having small holes/or torn.  Then there's 1000's of complaints on line regarding the quality of the machines, once again regardless of the brand, it seems Maytag/Whirlpool (Whirlpool owns Maytag now), GE, & LG are the worse.  Brands that use to be known for quality are now all producing JUNK!!  I do hope you bought the extended warranty cause I think you're going to need it within 2 yrs since most of these new junk washers barely make it past the manufacture's 1 yr warranty without breaking down.  As far as your situation though it's a damn shame looks like all you can do is throw in buckets of water to get it to fill but don't over do it cause you make experience leaks.  HE machines are designed for low water levels so your machine isn't defective, that's what it's suppose to do & while all this may have looked good on paper, the reality is it doesn't work.  Clothes come out still dirty, smelly, dry in spots where no water came in contact with them.  It's a flawed design.  There is however one last diamond in the rough, the brand is Speed Queen, they are non-HE machines, clean clothes well, made in USA, come with a 3 yr warranty, built to last over 20 yrs & customers have nothing but praise for them.  Check on line reviews for yourself at Amazon & consumeraffairs.com.  Those washers will give you 3/4 tub full of water but customers say if you hold the "reset" button it will fill all the way up.  This is a mandate by the government, not Speed Queen.  There are also youtube video's on Speed Queen.  I know that's not the answer you're looking for after recently purchasing your Maytag set but more than likely within a few short years you'll be re-purchasing since Maytag is no longer quality.  Just keep Speed Queen on the back burner of your mind.  Good luck.

I feel your pain. My huge washer only puts enough water to dampen the grime deeper into the fabric. I was almost positive that my washer was a defect, but now I'm convinced that I got ripped. Energy saver or not, this washer blows.
