Made the mistake of saying yes to some wonderful sounding program I was lucky to qualify for through Homecomings Financial and ended up getting phone calls at all hours with no messages left from what turned out to be a marketing company, Charter marketing services which markets a service called Identity Guard. No one knows how to stop the calls...... what a mistake and all for the promise of 60 bucks in gas coupons!

These seem to be the sites for Identity Guard/Charter Marketing Services.

Homecomings Financial may be part of GMAC.  Do you have any accounts thru them?  If so, you might send in a request that they not provide your information to any other companies.
    https://www.hfwholesale.com/hfwholesale/public/default.aspx

Regardless of how they got your name and number, under the Telemarketing Sales Rule, they should honor your request to be put on their Do Not Call list.  As telemarketers, they are required to maintain this list internally, separate from the national Do Not Call list.

If you still have problems after repeated requests, put in in writing, send it certified return receipt requested, and file a complaint with FTC, sending them a copy of your complaint.

The number they called me from is, 1-847-463-5737.  They just called my hone on 8/30/08, but when I called back after some rude man hung up on me since he couldn't speak to my husband, the automated message says they're open Monday-Friday.

I just reported these jerks to the FCC.  Recommend that everybody do the same.  There is an online complaint form at:

I already am on the do not call list and have received numerous calls the last several days, nonstop. I even subscribed to Caller ID to see who's calling! Anyone have info to stop this, short of changing my number, please let me know.

I have been neglecting looking at my bank withdraws for the past few months and noticed I've been getting charged 20 dollars every month for at least 4 months.

I'm heading down to Bank of America right now and cancelling my account, and plan on filing a lawsuit against them and Charter Marketing.

I'm glad to see there are other people in the same position cause that will make the case that much stronger.  I'll post back here when I get more information.

I have an account with GMAC who for the last 2 months have charged me $20.00 on my monthly statement for life insurance that I never requested. GMAC refused to cancel it referring me instead Chartered Marketing services at 1-800-251-2617. They advised that it would be canceled at the end of the month.

Do not depend on promises by Chartered Marketing/Intersections Insurance to cancel or refund their charges.  All unauthorized or fraudulent charges should be disputed IN WRITING with your bank, sent certified return receipt requested to the dispute address on your bank statement, and sent so they receive your dispute within 60 days of the statement date on the statement showing the disputed charge to preserve your FRB Reg. E (bank account) or FCBA (credit card) dispute rights.  You would also be wise to contact your bank immediately to dispute the charge, and FAX it directly in as well.  Close your account to prevent future fraudulent charges.

I have recieved a bunch of withdraws myself. I have tried to cancel but nothing seems to happen. After researching, I found that everything goes back to a bonus corp. named Charter Marketing Services. They have ALOT of dummy companies, they were hitting me $1 at a time from several different names, but they all lead back to the main company. I had to go in and close my bank acount and start a new one to get it stop. I would recommend that anyone else do that and then call your local non emergency police department number and let them know of this scam company so that they can get involved..

I just saw their charge on my Bank of America card and I called them to question smart step. They were closed. I finally figured out mine was a charge for a life insurance policy through a AIG company that I had canceled earlier today. I am calling back tomorrow to make sure it is cancelled. I had to ask for the confirmation number to cancel the policy otherwise they would not have given me one.
