UNWANTED CALLS

Made the mistake of saying yes to some wonderful sounding program I was lucky to qualify for through Homecomings Financial and ended up getting phone calls at all hours with no messages left from what turned out to be a marketing company, Charter marketing services which markets a service called Identity Guard. No one knows how to stop the calls...... what a mistake and all for the promise of 60 bucks in gas coupons!

Homecomings Financial may be part of GMAC. Do you have any accounts thru them? If so, you might send in a request that they not provide your information to any other companies.

Regardless of how they got your name and number, under the Telemarketing Sales Rule, they should honor your request to be put on their Do Not Call list. As telemarketers, they are required to maintain this list internally, separate from the national Do Not Call list.
If you still have problems after repeated requests, put in in writing, send it certified return receipt requested, and file a complaint with FTC, sending them a copy of your complaint.
I bank at Bank of America, are they targeting other bank customers?

I'm heading down to Bank of America right now and cancelling my account, and plan on filing a lawsuit against them and Charter Marketing.
I'm glad to see there are other people in the same position cause that will make the case that much stronger. I'll post back here when I get more information.
Do not depend on promises by Chartered Marketing/Intersections Insurance to cancel or refund their charges. All unauthorized or fraudulent charges should be disputed IN WRITING with your bank, sent certified return receipt requested to the dispute address on your bank statement, and sent so they receive your dispute within 60 days of the statement date on the statement showing the disputed charge to preserve your FRB Reg. E (bank account) or FCBA (credit card) dispute rights. You would also be wise to contact your bank immediately to dispute the charge, and FAX it directly in as well. Close your account to prevent future fraudulent charges.
