They post fake ads on craigslist claiming to sell puppies, kittens, or other pets.  They will ask you to pay a "shipper" who is supposed to send you the pet.  Then they hit you up for all sorts of fake charges (airport fees, vaccination, etc.).  Bottom line:  there is NO PET.
