I question auto charge during trial period

I looked up information on this site and found what I needed during the trial period.  I was shocked to see a purchase authorized charge within days of signing up.  I called today 2/27/2017 to cancel.  I wanted a documented record of the cancellation and whether this request will be honored.  Will keep you posted as to whether the account has truly been canceled.
