We bought our MAYTAG appliances, washer and dryer from Home Depot. We spent more than we wanted, but thought we were getting the quality they advertise. They delivered the products two months late, we got no compensation for this, and our rebate didn't work because we sent it after the deadline. Well,  three months later we had to call their customer service because the dryer was making strange sounds. The repairman stopped by and said that the motor needs to be replaced. Great!

I purchased a Maytag Performa Washer and Dryer. From day one the washing machine even though the load is balanced it walks across the floor (shakes uncontrollably) almost every time I put a load in. I had previously had a Maytag Washer and Dryer for 17 years with no problems. I had Maytag out 3 times and it was interesting as the workmen from Maytag (Not the store I purchased them from) all said the same thing "This really isnt a Maytag it is a cheap model that Maytag just puts it brand on and you should purchase the extra warranty as you will need it". They did nothing to fix the problem as it seemed that they knew that they could not fix it.I called Maytag directly several times but they did nothing. Here I am 3 years later still stuck with a washer that shakes uncontrollably (usually I think that someone is pounding on the door and I go to the door to see who it is but it is the washing machine. Why am I posting here now,

DO NOT PURCHASE A MAYTAG AS THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS!

The service was horrible, and Maytag could care less of my problem.
They don’t stand behind what they call a quality product.

If anyone is considering a Maytag product, they should have their head examined.

My SL-3 suffers from Mold on the door seal, bearing failure (extremely noisy Spin) and finally no spin at all.
I was surprised to find so much information on line about class actions suits, problematic WAX motors, switches and of course the bearing failures.
I decided to pay a premium price for a quality product; however, manufacturers with a less prestigious reputation produce products that last considerably longer and cost much less.
My research also indicates repairs for my unit will enter the obnoxious range ($1,400.00).
I purchased a MayTag for its reputation and quality and it has fallen short of expectations. This is not a typical component failure as it is more reminiscent of a multiple systemic failures in this product line.

    Product in formation:

we purchased a maytag neptune drying center 6 yrs ago.  the heating element went out and we're told that parts are no longer available for it.
long story short we have to buy a brand new dryer and maytag is offering no help or refund. we spent $1200 on this dryer.  i'm really surprised. thot they were a reputable company.
