Lazy Boy has contempt for customers

We have purchased lazy boy products for years with no problems. This year I developed a disability and purchased a very expensive lazy boy lift recliner. It has been just five months since the purchase and the motor that controls the leg rest and lift motion stopped working. A repairman came a week later and determined that the chair needed a new motor. I reminded him it was under warranty but asked if I could pay whatever charges were incurred to have a new motor overnighted. He laughed and said the Lazy Boy company doesn't work that way. I am four weeks now from having a working chair and talked with the representative at the furniture store today. She told me (in no uncertain terms) that my new motor had yet to be manufactured. I asked if my doctor might call the factory and explain the importance of having my legs consistently elevated. She said it would do no good as the chair is not sold as a medical appliance. My daughter called Lazy Boy corporate and was told they would not talk directly to customers and all complaints had to go through the furniture store where the chair was purchased. I called the store back and asked them to honor the warranty by taking back the defective chair and giving me another one. There was laughter at the other end of the phone line as I was told that they do not have to replace the chair if they can repair it within the first year. We have shopped at that furniture store for nearly 30 years and spent thousands of dollars with them. The furniture store and the Lazy Boy company have no compassion and nothing but contempt for the customer.
