The new la fitness in Oshawa is constantly playing 80's slow music and country.  This is completely inappropriate for a gym.  It is so bad and unmotivating I'm considering going back to my old gym.  When asked to change the music we were told "you can't please everyone". I have been to several gyms throughout my life and have never had to listen to such awful music.  Time to kick it up or members will leave.

This is a common complaint in many LA fitness branches all over the United States. People complain, protest, picket, etc and it doesn't do any good. LA Fitness is still highly successful with new branches opening up on a daily basis. The business model appears to be going for the short term grab for membership by promising the world and then harrasing them badly with loud music until they stop going to the gym.

I was dumb enough to become a member and now I am stuck with it but unable to go to the gym. Whether it is early morning or late at night, the music is blaring and uncomfortable. There is no place in the gym where one can find peace. Try meditating in the jacuzzi or listening to the bubbles. All you will hear is the loud music with its subliminal messages that dumb down your thinking processes. Go to the sauna and try contemplating your next creative project – forget it you can’t. Music is still pounding into your ears. They are looking for that mindless gym goer with no thoughts of their own who can appreciate being brainwashed on a regular basis. Work outs go to the hypnotic rhythm of the music and its messages of trivial lyrics made for the monkey brain. Listening to your own head phones don’t work, that music goes through everything, even sound proof ear plugs.

I find the time in the gym a big time waster unless I can double up my work with my workouts. I like to listen to my own mp3's and learn something or use the time in the steam room thinking out a problem in my work. I think most people are the same way. A few vegetable heads probably sit around all day or are willing to do the same mechanical activity over and over again but that is not most people. We want to make the best of our time by doing our thinking and contemplation while carrying mundane repetitive activities. If someone wants to listen to music, they are free to use their headphones.

The point is, it doesn't matter what music they play. Everyone can have a different taste in music. The problem is that they are playing MUSIC. When they have television sets, people can tune them out because the sound is not on. Your eyes can move anywhere. But your ears are stuck hearing what is blaring out of the speakers. This makes the gym practically unusable. Now I have a membership to a gym I can’t even go to.

The music @ LA fitness is so so so bad. I wish there was a gym in reasonable distance and I would switch..for that reason alone. I have NEVER heard anyone compliment their music. Only complaints about how awful it is : (

The music is horrible most of the time. Electrical lead weights all over the place. If you go in for a membership you end up getting charged with a bigger down payment then if you did it online. I'm not a fan the only good thing is that they have gyms all over the place
