telephone calls
Complaint
D
Country: United States
I have received three calls in two days regarding a Duncan Wood.
The only reason I know that is because I called them back after being hung up on three times.
And when I called back I was hung up on once. Then I got a rude guy by the name of Brandon.
When I told them to stop looking in the telephone books or internet and calling all the D Wood they
see, I was told that I was rude and that was not how it was done. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was
not placed on hold and so he heard my conversation with my husband, told me I was rude again, yelled at me
and told me the supervisor was on the phone and I could call back or leave a message. When i asked to hold
he yelled at me that I could not hold on his phone. I slammed the phone in his ear. hope it hurt.
I emailed company. Hope they respond. I don't know a Duncan Wood and have had my telephone number for over 20 years. They are the pits.

Most complaints against this debt collector are for harassing the wrong person, or attempting to collect on a non-existent or already paid debt, using abuse or deception.
The nature of those complaints points to a range of compliance problems by the debt collector, including routine use of harassing calls, abusive behavior, failure to validate disputed debts, use of abuse or deception to attempt to divert consumers from disputing, etc.
Similar practices just cost Allied Interstate $1.75 Million, in a recent settlement with FTC.

Sounds like you have already told them they are calling the wrong number, and to cease calling you, yet they continue to harass you with abusive calls. That is a violation of FDCPA. Maintain a log of their calls, noting date, time, and abusive content, as it will help should you need to sue them.
Send them a letter (mailed one certified, one just stamped, keep a copy for your records), notifying them that they have been repeatedly calling your number (xxx-xxx-xxxx) in error to reach some person you do not know (might as well give the name they ask for), that you have repeatedly told their employees to cease calling you, but they have responded with yelled abuse and continue to call and harass you. (Document the dates and number of their calls, and any details of abuse in your letter.) Demand in your letter that they cease their harassing calls, and cease communications.
They are in Washington state. You can find their main address through www.bbb.org. You can verify their receipt of your letter through the USPS website, using your certified number.
If you receive any futher calls after verifying their receipt of your letter, file complaints with FTC, your state Attorney General, and the Washington state Attorney General, including a copy of the letter you sent, and the dates and times of their calls after receiving your "cease communications" letter.
If they continue harassing you after that, find an attorney and sue them, for violations of FDCPA. FDCPA allows courts to aware damages and attorney fees, so you should be able to find an attorney to take such cases on contingency. You might try www.naca.net
PLEASE STOP CALLING!!!!
If they continue, get a consumer attorney and sue them. You might try www.naca.net
FDCPA allows courts to award actual plus statutory damages up to $1000 per action, and attorney fees.
TCPA allows courts to award statutory damages of $500 up to $1500 per unauthorized call if willfully violated, so it can add up fast.

File a complaint with FTC and your state Attorney General.
