Card Services or a variation of this is the name given for these scam companies attempting to access personal information. I have received over 50 calls during the last 6 months from them, from almost as many different phone numbers. I have filed numerous complaints with the DNC Registry. After just hanging up when I realized that it was a sales call, or not answering the phone the first few times, I decided to follow the menu and speak to someone. This has happened at least 30 times. Most of the calls end in the representative hanging up on me. I am never rude. At first I just asked them not to call and explained that I was on the DNC list. That, of course resulted in a hang-up, but did not result in stopping the calls. Then I would listen to their offer, and ask for a company address or phone = hang-up. I advanced to telling them that I could benefit from their service, but of course, before giving such sensative information (they ALWAYS want a credit card number), they must understand my desire to have a current number and address. Of course that resulted in just another hang up. Now I just tell them that I have a huge amount of debt and yes I would like the service, then I ask if they can wait while I answer the door and just put the phone down.

From what I understand, Guardian Communications was the pioneer of this service, but now there are hundreds of copycats. The FTC is overwhelmed and can do little to stop them. There will always we thieves trying to seperate you from your money. Dont be a fool. Just hang up the phone.
