SQUAREUP IS A SCAM!!

I have never used SquareUp, nor have I ever purchased ANYTHING from ANYONE who uses SquareUp. In fact, I don't use my credit cards that often at all.. I USUALLY PAY CASH... HOWEVER.. I keep receiving text messages from SquareUp telling me that I made credit card purchases from companies which don't really exist!!! Now, I must closely watch all of my accounts for fraud... When I looked online, I find that this has happened to several people! -- Their stupid, online, receipt tells me NOTHING!! It just lists an amount paid to a phantom company called: CraftJust4u... I WILL NEVER-EVER USE THIS CROOKED, SCAMMER COMPANY FOR ANYTHING!!  NOR, WILL I EVER PURCHASE FROM ANYONE WHO USES THIS CROOKED, SCAMMER COMPANY!!

    Probably the text messages are from scammers attempting to panic victims into responding and disclosing credit card information to "reverse a charge".

    Basically like the "your debit card has been blocked, call xxx-xxx-xxxx to unblock it" scams.
    Or the phony "Amazon shipment" scams.

    The scammers commonly use well known names.
    Probably not coming from SquareUp.

    I agree. Square (the credit card processor) is a SCAM. They use your email address to send SPAM messages on behalf of stores (and charge them for the privilege) many months after you buy something. They also associate your email address from one store with purchases from a second store if you ever use the same credit card. MY CREDIT CARD IS PERSONAL INFORMATION and so is my email address, but Square does not treat it this way. I request to NEVER be on email lists, but Square thinks it's okay to ignore what I want. I AM NOW BOYCOTTING ALL STORES THAT USE SQUARE AS THEIR CREDIT CARD PROCESSOR. I suggest you dump square if they are your processor. There are many better ones out there that don't do these types of SCAMMING activities.

    If you actually lost money, then you probably did get scammed, but not by SQUAREUP. I have used SQUAREUP for years, and they are very conscientious about privacy and the integrity of their data. There ARE scammers who are using spoofed SMS messages pretending to be from SQUAREUP to get people to give up their credentials and/or infect their phones and computers, but these don't come from SQUAREUP. If you look at the url domain in the SMS, it's 'gosq.me'. SQUAREUP is a San Francisco, California company. They're not going to use a domain in Montenegro (Southeast Europe).

      I disagree. They are simply part of the scamming industry. If you use them a lot you are most likely a scammer yourself.

        I have an 100% accurate answer. It's carders aka fraudsters. They've already got the card info and chances are prolly 90% - 99% that it's them attempting to cash out/"card" using victims card.

        However this does mean squareup has some seriously flawed areas somewhere in their system regarding detection and prevention.

        Best thing to do is always have card locked when not actively using. Or at very least use OTP protection, etc.

    I'm getting daily texts from Squareup.com with receipts for charges I have not made.  The companies they are supposedly charging at are real.  I called Experian and had a fraud alert placed.  I has not affected my credit and no charges in actuality have been made to the best of my knowledge and checking my accounts. Very scary!

    I was hacked someone took money from my account sent it to my sister she sent it back and the funds never reached my account Then they rerouted some money from my account to them and also opened up a Zelle account and transfered money to them. I need the cash app money back can you help me please

    They just let someone empty my dying sons account and the receipt page is Blank .

    Squareup is part of the scamming industry and should be shut down.
    The process is simple: 1) the scammer gets you to provide the back and front of a gift card and the receipt. 2) the scammer sells the card to Squareup at a discount, or they connect the scammer with a client who purchases the card at a discount. 3) The buyer of the card (most likely also a scammer) sends a runner to purchase an item in the store or does an online purchase and then sells the item at a discount.

    Our company has been using Square for payment processing for the past 10 years, with zero complaints from our customers, and zero issues with payments being posted accurately. The scams mentioned above must be from a company pretending to be Squareup, which unfortunately happens all the time on the internet.
