My 3 year contract with Rogers ended and I transferred my cell phone number to another provider on the day my contract expired. The number was moved within 6hrs of me signing up with my new provider......low and behold I have been billed for another month of wireless services because Rogers 'requires' 30 days notice when porting your phone number to another service provider. I explained to the customer service representative that it did not make sense to me that I was billed for wireless services that were NOT provided to me by Rogers as my cell phone number had been moved to the other cell phone provider so in essence they were billing me for a service that they did not render. After a brief pause he again told me that they require 30 days notice when you port your telephone number to another provider and they bill you for those 30 days. I asked him how he would feel if he came to my hospital and I didn't give him the medications and treatments he was there for but still billed him for them......again silence and then the same explanation. He then went to speak to his 'supervisor' and came back and told me he would give me a $40 credit for the phone number move but that is all he could do for me. I told him I would be escalating this matter to the BBB and I would NEVER make the mistake of signing up with Rogers ever again!

Everyone you spoke to at Rogers is correct. When ending your service with Rogers, you are required to give a minimum of 30 days notice. If you port out to another wireless provider then the day it happens is considered your 30 days of notice to us, and you will be charged accordingly.
Here is a link to our Terms of Service where it's explained: www.rogers.com/cms/pdf/en/TOS_Eng.pdf
@Rogers_Chris
How miserable and petty of a human being do you have to be to see that the Terms of Service with respect to this issue you linked to aren't ethical? This insanely stupid catch-22 policy has been in effect for YEARS. People have filed tons of complaints at the CCTS and you arrogant crooks have done NOTHING to address the issue.
Rogers is literally charging people to STOP using their services and move to another carrier even when a contract isn't involved. This is done specifically to punish and inconvenience those who want to leave your absolute trainwreck of a company for a better one, since no 'dead air' charges occur if you simply cancel your account. GOOD companies earn revenue by selling their services, not extorting those who don't use them.
