I rented a car from SIXT through rentalcars.com at Rome on Friday 21/06/2013. On Saturday 22/06/2013 in Positano the car failed to start once and the message “far controllare motore” appeared repeatedly (three times). I stopped the car immediately and called both technical assistance and SIXT. We spent almost 2 hours waiting in Positano until the arrival of the technical assistance truck which came to pick the car and transfer it to the Car Service Station. Although we called many times the personnel, nobody came to help us and replace the car. We convinced the driver of the truck to give us a ride and after 2 hours we ended up in a garage somewhere outside Pompei. From there we took a taxi to our hotel in Naples and we spent the rest of the day at the city.

On Sunday, we took a second taxi to Naples airport and asked from the local office to replace the car. The office  in Naples gave us a new contract and a new car. They informed us that the system of SIXT is updated automatically and that we would not encounter any problems in SIXT Fumicino Airport Station. Although we insisted that the officer should come to check the car with us, she refused. She then wrote down the damages of the second car on the contract of the first car we had gotten on Friday, reassuring us not to worry about it.

When we arrived in Rome on Monday, the staff of SIXT did not know anything about the incident.  To make matters worse, the system did not report all the damages of the second car. We explained to your employees  in Rome that their colleague in Naples airport had informed us that all the damages where on the system and that she had written them down on the first contract. They then asked us to write a second declaration reporting the above.

We have been long SIXT customers and have been extremely disappointed by this treatment and the indifference and the rudeness  of the Fumicino airport office.

We had less that three days in Italy hoping to make the most of our stay. Instead we ended up on the phone trying to explain our situation in Positano. Finally, when we got back in Rome to return the car we expected a better treatment.

It has been already 3 weeks, and noone has contacted us to refund us at least the taxi costs. Instead we also received a receipt with damage charges!!! We have contacted our bank and notified them that this charges are unjustified and false. We are only paying for the fuell charges. Terrible customer service, and frauds!!!

Do NOT rent from them! DO NOT!

    I had a similar experience with SIXT in Spain recently and I am in the process of writing my complaints email. Have you heard anything back from them?
