annoying phone calls
Complaint
Fed Up
Country: United States
I get these calls all the time. Reading so many posts here I figured some things out that I share below.
First I would not add other lines to the do not call list. LOL That is where they get the numbers to call. They requested the do not call list and the feds sent it to them. Wow a huge number of valid US phone numbers. Woo Hoo. When the do not call list sends out updated lists of new numbers added they will have your other numbers to call. I have five numbers and only one is called by credit card services and it is the one on the do not call list. So sad but the very agency set up to prevent these calls gave them our numbers.
I thought the blowing the horn idea sounded great until I read a post where they called back and blew a horn into the posters ear. Gee, they have your number and I sure would not want to have them calling repeatedly and blowing horns in my ear. I like my hearing.
Next reporting them is just waisting your time. They are from India and maybe other countries where the feds do nothing. I just hang up as soon as the recording starts and after reading the posts here I determined it is the only thing I can do. Taking up their time by talking to them is worthless as they still get paid as little as 1 dollar or two a day for talking to you and its worthwhile to those running the business as long as they get one good credit card number even it they spend weeks or months talking to people to get one valid credit card number they can steal from.
Their goal appears to be to get enough info about the person they are calling for complete identity theft, get complete information that can be used to create ids to give to those trying to enter the country and work, and get valid credit card numbers to use to steal from those accounts. Ouch, for those who give that info away to anyone that calls them.
I dont give any info out to anyone who calls me, banks, credit card companies, cable services, etc. I laughed at Comcast when they called me and after a few questions asked how much I spent on cable services. I told the caller if they did not know how much I spent they must be a scam and hung up.
Reporting them is a waist of time and money. After all the people you are reporting them to are federal workers paid by tax payers, you and me. The more people reporting requires more tax payers money to hire more workers to take the calls. The government will do nothing to stop the calls from overseas evident by the fact they have been going on daily for years from the same company. But it does give more people in the US a job so I guess that is a good thing.
To sum it up I find nothing can be done. Adding numbers to the do not call list just gets more of these calls to the numbers added, complaining to the feds just waists your time and tax dollars, blowing horns and yelling at them just gets them to call back and do the same to you sometimes as they have your number and they know how to dial it, and taking up the time of someone making a dollar a day who does not care at all is not the best use of my time.
So sad, but I think the only way to get the calls to stop is to nuke the call centers in India but that probably would not stop the calls as they would start coming from China or South America or some other country. Besides the politicians would not like the idea of nuking India as so many large US companies exported large numbers of our jobs to that country for the low wages. But we did get a high unemployment rate and crappy customer service in hard to understand broken english in exchange.
The calls from this company are here to stay and will continue as long as they get a few suckers to give them the info they want. The only way I can think of to stop the crooks from calling from India for good is to shut off that phone number then get one that is not on the do not call list.
