After a settlement a few years ago with FTC, over harassing calls and attempts to collect from the wrong people, they have an agreement with FTC to comply with FDCPA.

Contact FTC if you have any problems with them.

Nark, You have a debt collector calling you.  These crooks went after me late last year and wanted me to pay someone else's bill from Compass Bank via Jefferson Capital.  I never had an account with either entity, but the person they were calling for had my very common last name and first initial.  They claimed, in their response to my state;s Attorney General, that an "outside independent vendor" they had engaged provided my phone number as a valid contact for that individual.  That particular vendor, to whom they were probably paying good money, was obviously using outdated information since I had changed my phone listing several months prior.  Several months prior made the change in desperation after several years of having to deal with debt collectors, all looking for people with my very common last name and my first initial.

Getting them to remove you from their hit list is exceedingly difficult because the drones in their call center are trained to believe that you are not being truthful.

Sent them a cease communication letter.  Send it certified, return requested, with a copy to your state's Attorney General.  Include your phone number and tell them that the individual they are trying to contact cannot be reached at your number.

    Send your letter to:

    Firoza Mehta, AVP of Compliance
    Allied Interstate
    3000 Corporate Exchange Drive
    Columbus OH  43231

Several months after my dealings with them, I received a very thick envelope from the Florida Attorney General's office.  It seems that Allied Interstate is now under investigation in Florida for their sloppy work.

Sorry, I meant Mark, not Nark.
Good luck to you.  Being on any debt collector's hit list is no fun.

And ALWAYS file Allied Interstate complaints with FTC.

They are subject to a settlement agreement, over harassing calls and attempts to collect from the wrong people, so if they aren't following their agreement to clean up their act, report to FTC.
