800 NOTES as caller ID called our Church Office on October 27, 2016 and when I answered giving the name of the Church they hung up.  This is very annoying, and I wish 800 NOTES would find a way to screen and stop these scammers and  telemarketers from calling.  This is so annoying.

    Scammers are anonymous..
They use cheap and anonymous VoIP to make scam calls, and those services let the customer set the caller id information.  Some overseas scams get a "202" area code and set it to "IRS" and similar fraudulent settings.  Government can't even do more than post warnings on their websites.

Strange that they would use "800 notes", since that would just direct victims to a site reporting scam calls, but some of these scammers aren't too bright.

same here, i get IRS scams all the time. Someone should come up with a better way to block spoofed  calls, like put them on hold and display its not the real CID and let us choose if we want to ignore, block or answer.
