In the end, still the worst service

In December of 2011 I purchased a $1700 Sterns & Foster mattress set from Art Van. I also purchased all their "gimmick" items to insure the best service like the pad and pillows. By March 2012,we started noticing the middle of the bed was collapsing. By May you could sit in the middle of the bed and sink eight to 10 inches. We called Art Van. They sent someone out and determined it was defective. We then learned the mattress was no longer made. Some kind of problem with it. Because I have serious back problems it was imperative we got the correct support needed and Art Van helped us by offering any "comparable" bed we chose. So we went back to the store and spent hours picking out a new mattress. A new King Coil Mattress that was a little more expensive than the first but Art Van was good enough to cover the difference. We had such a hard time picking the right firmness due to my serious back issue but we had good confidence because Art Van has a great thirty day trial period. So far they seem to have changed their old poor business ways and then they ruined the entire experience which was bad enough already. It turned out the mattress was too firm and when we went back to do the thirty day exchange we were told because we bought the defective mattress and exchanged that one, we could not exchange the new one. Now we have a mattress we cannot use. Art Van said if they allowed what we wanted they would be constantly exchanging mattresses. But we were only asking for our original "one" exchange. We did not feel selling us a defective product should count as the exchange but rather a warranty issue which they couldn't honor due to the product no longer being made. So twenty years after my first bad taste with Art Van ultimately ends the same. The one good thing is we bought a complete new living and dining set from their competitor spending $7,000.00. We felt a little like we got even. Never again will I step in an Art Van store.
