In December of 2011 I purchased a $1700 Sterns & Foster mattress set from Art Van. I also purchased all their "gimmick" items to insure the best service like the pad and pillows. By March 2012,we started noticing the middle of the bed was collapsing. By May you could sit in the middle of the bed and sink eight to 10 inches. We called Art Van. They sent someone out and determined it was defective. We then learned the mattress was no longer made. Some kind of problem with it. Because I have serious back problems it was imperative we got the correct support needed and Art Van helped us by offering any "comparable" bed we chose. So we went back to the store and spent hours picking out a new mattress. A new King Coil Mattress that was a little more expensive than the first but Art Van was good enough to cover the difference. We had such a hard time picking the right firmness due to my serious back issue but we had good confidence because Art Van has a great thirty day trial period. So far they seem to have changed their old poor business ways and then they ruined the entire experience which was bad enough already.  It turned out the mattress was too firm and when we went back to do the thirty day exchange we were told because we bought the defective mattress and exchanged that one, we could not exchange the new one. Now we have a mattress we cannot use. Art Van said if they allowed what we wanted they would be constantly exchanging mattresses. But we were only asking for our original "one" exchange.  We did not feel selling us a defective product should count as the exchange but rather a warranty issue which they couldn't honor due to the product no longer being made. So twenty years after my first bad taste with Art Van ultimately ends the same. The one good thing is we bought a complete new living and dining set from their competitor spending $7,000.00. We felt a little like we got even. Never again will I step in an Art Van store.

We also recently purchased a mattress from Art Van. I have noticed that our new mattress for our guest bedroom is doing the same thing. Since it's the guest room it's only been slept on very little and when I make the bed it looks like its sunk way down. Plus the mattress had a chemical smell when we bought it. For the first ten days we just let it air out. I am going to have to go back to the store and see what they will do.  I wondered if they recycle the old interworkings from old mattress's and that is why the quality is so poor.

My husband and I purchased a King Koil Low Profile Mattress Set KDOWN SET-BBGB-KXLPF about four years ago from Art Van.  We paid almost $2000. for it.  I've been meaning to write to them but after last night's awful sleep I had to do it today but they don't have a e-mail address directly to the store.  This is THE worse mattress we have ever had in our lives.  We are so dissatisfied with this purchase.  We were unhappy with it after about 1 month but was unable to return it.  The sales guys assured us that this was the best and with the price we figured it had to be.  BUT it's NOT!!!!!! Are backs hurt and our hips are killing us from it.  I usually get up in the middle of the night and go sleep in the spare room on a $200. mattress so I can get a good nights sleep without pain.  I will never buy a mattress from Art Van again.. And if their salesmen from Saginaw and Bay City (14178 Brendan and 26947 Brent) are still working for them they can stick this mattress where the sun don't shine.  Oh, my mother-in-law has this mattress and just loves it.  It's so great you'll never need another mattress is all we heard from these two. Plus we were told we could exchange mattresses as many times until we found one we liked.  Well, obviously they never slept on one.  I can't believe we spent so much money for such a piece of crap.  And then we had to buy the mattress cover in order for it to be guaranteed and a set of sheets.  We ended up spending $2141. of our hard earned money to buy this and this is what we got.  We are so upset with this purchase and we will let everyone we can know about it.  I'm also going to to let the mattress company know about their awful product.  I'm sure Art Van or the mattress company gives a crap about how we all feel now that we're stuck with them.  Treat your customers like that especially after we have bought so much other furniture from them.  But we will surely think twice before we buy for them again.

Well, tomorrow is the day (9/4/2013) that hopefully Art Van will determine that my mattress after only eights months is defective and I will be able to sleep on a new King Koil mattress hopefully. Not that I don't mind my couch but having to sleep in a separate room as my wife and newborn is hard to take after a very short period and a very expensive purchase with Art Van. Thanks, I will post an update as to their warranty procedure and hopefully a happy solution.
