My sister bought this Maytag Cenntenial He commercial washer brand new. She told me her daughter used it and overloaded it and it quit spinning water out of the clothes. As a previous owner of an appliance repair store, I just assumed that she burned out the direct drive motor so she gave it to me for exchange for so work I did for her. I then bought a new motor for $167 and was that a mistake. My first mistake was not going ahead and trying to put the unit in program mode to see if that were the only problem. My second mistake was putting a load in it without testing it empty first. Two mistakes that I'd never done if I weren't retired. Not only was the original motor burned up but the capacitor was bad and if that weren't enough the contro board was so intermittent with problems that I had to reset the unit 6 or 7 times just to get the water to  dispense, which lead to my last and worse mistake. I had a load of wet clothes with detergent in them, the unit would not wash or rinse it merely pumped out the water and set there. I had to remove my clothes, rinse them with a hose, ring them out by hand and pray it wouldn't damage my LG front load dryer. Which it didn't. Of course I wouldn't own an LG front load washer(nothing but trouble) but the dryer has been good. I had a kenmore washer that was 20 years old that I finally replaced with this new May tag and that ward my last mistake. I'll only buy a kenmore again. They may be made by whirlpool, but with kenmore specs, not maytag. Stay away from direct drive washers the motors can't handle the constant reversing in polarity. Transmissions are still the best.
