holiday scams

whilst holidaying in SANTA PONSA in MAJORCA in august 2008 we were approched by SUE and another female (Scottish) both very chatty and friendly. we were given scrath cards and surprising won either a 1000 euros, a laptop or a holiday, as well as a bottle of wine and 2 free tickets to a waterpark. escorted to a free taxi we were then taken to Palma to a government building near the marina. although told it would take around 80 minuites we left the building over 4 hours later. our young daughter in a room seperate to us being entertained by a complete stranger. the salesman DAMO then proceded to give us the talk about all the benefits of joining this exclusive membership holiday club. we were told we could only join here in MAJORCA and another country and that it was not open to everyone they only needed so many people to join. his manager answered any questions DAMO was unsure about.the manager told us all the money went into a big pot in a bank account (NATWEST or ROYAL BANK OF SCOTLAND) in the ISLE OF MANN and all they used was the interest that the money made.  we were told we had 3 weeks to check it all out and to get our solicitor to check it as well and if not happy we could cancel. the price worked out about £22 a week for 5 years and as we were told that would be about what you would save weekly for your holidays.  we were offered a weeks cruise and a weeks stay in Florida and a weeks European holiday, plus a thousand pound off the price (£7950 down to £6950)if we signed up and join there and then. all we would have to pay was the flights. as much as we were tempted we refused to join. waiting for a taxi to take us back to our hotel DAMO couldn't hide how pissed off he was with us saying 'i can't belive you gave up a cruise!' we had a few second thoughts aferwards because the hoilday they offered us was very tempting and a holiday of a lifetime. however coming back to the UK and checking them out we are extremly pleased we did'nt join their so called 'holiday club'. we would just like to warn other UK hoilday makers going to MAJORCA to stay away from these people as it is a scam and takes away your valuable time on holiday.
