Total Failure of Apex Television After 8 Months

Complaint

Hello all,

My reasons for posting and for asking a question are few and quite simple, 1) to see if these forums are a good way of disseminating customer information to each other, 2) doing a public service in the process by sharing and inviting like information from others, and 3) uniting to create a better response from companies to customer problems and complaints. My guess is that yes, sharing and expressing these sentiments and telling each other of particular problems with specific companies and products can save others the same or like problems by alerting each other and hopefully deterring others from those problem companies who are only interested in a quick buck, don't care about the customer, and don't back or stand behind their products very well or not at all.

Since I'm starting this thread and since I'm wanting to see if others agree with me that this forum can be helpful in helping each other, I will start with my first example of a case of customer neglect and customer abuse by a company that sells electronics and fails to stand behind their product after the product is but a mere few (8) months old. So, here goes...

To all electronics consumers:

This is a consumer “BEWARE ALERT” about Apex Digital Inc. products. Stay away from them as they are of inferior, very inferior quality and the company does not stand behind them very well, probably for that very same reason, their product's inferior quality of which they are aware and don't accept responsibility for. I purchased an Apex television and before it was even a few months old first the sound on it was going out and becoming very distorted and then it lost the picture completely and then would not even come on at all and hasn't now for over a month. I contacted Apex Digital tech support via the phone number in the manual about a month ago and since then it has been nothing but a series of excuses, run-arounds, delays and general lack of support and lack of accepting responsibility for their product. They come down to expecting the customer/consumer to throw good money after bad, as the saying goes, and expect the customer to pay to ship the item and pay a labor repair fee in advance to repair a television that in my opinion should not be needing any repair of any kind in its short 8 month old life. Why should a customer even be thinking of repair to an item that is only 8 months old and then one has to ask oneself-Is this just one symptom of other failures to come and more money and more repairs? Also, I live in San Antonio, Texas and cannot believe that in all of a city the size of San Antonio-a million plus population-there is not anyone that the company has here to repair or at least examine the tv. Then again I should not be surprised at this if the Apex products are of such poor and inferior quality such that no one wants to carry them and the company itself stands so poorly behind them. The moral of the story: stay away from Apex Digital products as they spell problems and will only give you grief as even the company itself-Apex Digital-does not believe in them or intend to stand behind them.

Please respond to my question about whether sharing this type of information with each other helps us all be better informed and better protected against suffering like fate and be victims to companies that only want to make a quick buck and do not care about customer satisfaction once they've gotten our money. Please share your story, as I'm sure everyone out there has at least one similar story to tell of having been taken advantage of and tell of how you dealt with it and what was the end result; Thanks guys.

Its like they are deliberately trying to Disservice their customers. The whole company should be sued. Long story short bought this tv in February 2011 wouldn't turn on in June so that's 4 months. I even bought an extended warranty from Target bit since its not over a year i have to deal with Apex. Same complete nightmare with customer service they just tell you that they are going to "escalate" the issue. Honestly that means nothing. Today is December 8th and they told me it should be here in 2 weeks. Haha that's so funny I've heard that before. What they're doing should be illegal and Target should stop selling these TVs and give me my money back.

Your complaint with the service belongs to a company name KCPI. They were licensed to manufacture products using the Apex Digital name. If you look inside your manual, they would tell you who is the manufacture of the product. Currently Tmax Digital has taken over the Apex name since July 2011. All the complaints you are having belong to KCPI.

I have a Apex Digital TV and see all the complaints but it's not the brand name you should be upset with, its the company that manufactured them. My TV was manufactured by Tmax Digital and they did service my unit in a timely manner.

Im in on the class action. And target should definitely be included. They are aware these TVs are sub par yet continue to sell them. My story: purchased 46 inch from Target February 2012. Now December 2012
Smoke is coming from the back of the TV! It smells like something is burning out inside of it! 10 months! Unbelievable! Sign me up for the lawsuit. How else will we stop this type of nonsense.

My tv went out the same exact way. Out of now where smoke just started to come out the back. Right around the same time as you. I wonder if you got the LD4688T?

I have theLD4688T and it just burned up and created the worst smell in my home. I still have the tv but plan to dump it because it still smells so bad I feel it is toxic. I was watching tv on 12/24/15 and all of a sudden I started to smell the worst chemical smell in the world. Then about ten minutes later the tv went dark but I could still see the picture and then a white strip came across the top of the screen. I finally figured something was burning in the tv so unplugged everything before a fire but thankfully the tv was not unattended or anything. I bought it at Target on a sale in November 2011 so of course it is out of warranty. Just thankful it did not cause a fire. The smell and burnout was definitely coming from the back hole.

Let me know if this is being seriously considered please. I have already sent in one tv for a replacement in Oct 2012, when I purchased it Feb 2012. After a bunch of lovely run around and no answers anywhere, I mean they couldn't even give me the tracking number on the shipping label they sent me, I finally got the tv back at the end of the year. Now barely 2 months later the replacement "NEW" tv they sent me has no picture. Out of no where it just popped and out went the picture. Time for round two now as I wait to call them back to reach a supervisor.

I call myself that for buying an APEX TV.  It was on one channel and FROZE.  The remote wouln't even turn it off.  The side button wouldn't turn it off.  The volume on the remote and on the side of TV itself wouldn't work. The remote wouldn't change the channel. as well as the button on the TV itself.  What a piece of CRAP!!!!!   To turn it off, I had to unplug it.   DO NOT BUY APEX ANYTHING!!!!

I bought a 32" apex a year ago...the remote never worked...then two weeks ago it decided not to turn on...after a day of waiting it turned on manually as always and looked good for 10 minutes before shutting off by itself....I would like to see this trash taken off the market and a class action lawsuit put against them...APEX....YOU SELL THE WORST TV ON THE MARKET AND I CONSIDER YOU NO DIFFERENT THAN A DRUG DEALER.....YOU ARE PUSHERS, ARE YOU NOT? FOR ANYONE WHO IS WILLING TO START A CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST APEX, PLEASE EMAIL ME AT krayz123@aol.com.....I want revenge,,,,or they replace all the bad tvs they sold since 2012......

I won my 40 inch Apex at bingo. It has worked perfectly for three years...however, I tossed something towards the cat in front of the tv, he jumped and the little plastic end hit the tv and broke the screen....If any of you on here have a 40 inch that is junk, could I please buy the glass screen from you??? I'll buy the whole tv. I went and bought a new Vizio 58 inch with the 240 refresh rate....this one, once fixed will be my sons to play games on....please contact me if you have what I need.

My neighbor placed an Apex LD4088T out on the sidewalk to throw away. I brought it in and looked it over. $15 worth of capacitors later I have a nice TV! We'll see how long it holds up.

Please be careful I had this same model and it just burned out without any cause or without any warnings. I bought the same model and I was watching tv and a horrible chemical smell started and the picture went dark. The smell took so long to get out of my house and it is attached to the tv.

APEX televison were hit or miss. If you got a good one like I did you get a great picture and lots of features. If you didn't you got a piece of junk.

I have had mine for ten years and its still my only television. I have a android box hooked up, digital tv receiver, videogame system, video in from a computer and all hooked up to my Sony home theater system and it all works flawlessly.

I thought I had to add my two cents to all these reviews.

i didnt have time to read ALL of the "headache " posts from us consumers , however I did not see this one... I lost my remote and after buying 6 yes six different brands of universlal remotes, the Phillips was the only one  that would function the Apex 4088 tv,  so to happily join the complaint club, 2 months later the picture went out......so Im watching the 20 inch bedroom tv in the living room now... THANK YOU APEX!
