Country: United States
This company has called my phone for months at all hours for a debt long ago taken care of & even for the previous persdon(s) who had this Ph# before me & unknown to me. They continue to harrass & insist they are not a scam, but won't stop calling. I'm an elderly senior citizen & was kind in the begining, they said they would remove the number..they have called from Las Vegas, Nv. ..east coast, California..they have callers all over the world I guess. PLEASE get them to stop calling . I am sweriously ill & can't handle anymore. Thank you kindly, Ms. Baasch

Complaints of harassing calls from either real debt collectors or fake debt collectors have recently included reports that the calls come from various area codes. This may be due to use of VoIP services, which are cheaper than normal phone service, and which can provide calls reentering the phone system at various area codes.
Sometimes this is used by debt collectors to create the appearance of a local call. At other times numerous phone numbers from various locations are used in an apparent attempt to get around call blocking.
It is illegal for debt collectors to engage in harassing and abusive calls. It is a violation of FDCPA and similar state debt collection laws.
There is no reason for them to continue to harass you with calls when you have already told them you don't know the party they are trying to reach, that they can't be reached at your number, and you have requested that they cease calling you.
There is no reason to let this continue, especially as it is affecting your health.
File a complaint with FTC, then contact your state Attorney General for assistance.
If your state Attorney General cannot get the calls to cease, contact a consumer attorney with experience in FDCPA litigation. FDCPA allows courts to award actual and statutory damages, as well as attorney fees, so you should be able to find attorneys who will take such cases on contingency.
