Sportsman's Warehouse forces users to enter full name, email, phone, and address just to see shipping costs - information most sites calculate with a ZIP code alone. Before any purchase or consent, they capture your data and add you to their mailing list (I received a "welcome" email instantly). This violates FTC Section 5 guidelines against unfair and deceptive acts, specifically the requirement that material terms (like data collection for marketing) must be clearly disclosed before consumers provide personal information. I requested deletion; they sent a California-only opt-out link and ignored follow-up for days. Deceptive, invasive, and unacceptable. Their privacy policy claims they can sell your data-but it's buried in fine print after they've already tricked you into handing it over just to see shipping. That's not consent; that's deceptive concealment under FTC Section 5. No "I Accept" checkbox-just "Next" buttons that silently enroll you in marketing before you see shipping.
