I wanted to buy a truck. I saw an ad online for a Chevy c10 for 3,700 so I emailed the seller and she said she’s no longer in Los Angeles that she moved to Minnesota and that I can buy the car off eBay and get it shipped to me.
Something didn’t feel right so I did a reverse search on her profile picture which is her with 2 kids and it’s a stock picture from a kids allergy medication.

This is what she sent me.
Hi,

I just finished my divorce and moved to Minnesota because I found a new job here ( the car is here with me ), also here I was born and my family is from here. I can say I came back home.

The transaction I will do through eBay Motors ( I will put an auction on Buy it Now for you on eBay so you can buy it now on your name ) and I will pay the shipping cost of transport to your home address.
I chose to make the transaction through eBay because I registered a long time ago and have positive feedback 245

In this way both of us will have the required assurance that the deal will take place well. If you agree please reply to me with your full name, shipping address and phone number and I will send the eBay link so you can buy it now.

    Yall this is a scam! Several people have tried to buy this truck from this woman. They pay the money and never receive the truck! I was about to pay $5600 for this truck. GLAD I FOUND THIS SCAM ALERT!

    SCAM! I am out my money of $3600.00. I have learned my lesson. GO LOOK AT OUR VEHICLE AND DRIVE IT AWAY WITH PURCHASE

    I can't believe people would do this. Scam! I wanted to surprise my husband with his dream truck that I could finally afford. I wired her the money like she asked but never received the vehicle. When I try to email her, it says her email isn't found. No wonder she would never give me her phone number when I asked for it in my emails.

    This POS is still at it. Now "she" grew up in Florida. She now claims she and her two kids moved away from California after her husband dies. Cry me a river. Alice Winks is not Alice Winks. DONT FALL FOR IT. Now trying to sell a 1981 Volkswagen pickup which I'm sure is not hers. It sounds like a real bargain with only 59,000 miles for $4500 thru Ebay Motors buy it now

      The link goes to a fake site, cars-trucks-115193720235.com - not actually to eBay.   Anyone who offers to "ship" a vehicle is a scammer.

    Same thing happened to me but with a rider lawnmower. Fortunately, I didn't send any money. The email was from Nichole Russel, and here is what she send me:

    Hi,

    I'm glad you're interested in buying my 2020 John Deere zero turn mower Z525E 54 inch 24 hp 64.5 hours. Never had or needed any paint/body work done, without any mechanical problems, tires and wheels are in great shape as well, electric is working perfectly. Has a clean and clear title in my name and there are no liens or loans on it. I'm selling it at this final price of $800 because my husband died 2 months ago (he had a heart attack) and brings me bad memories and that's the reason I want to sell it asap. I also got a new job and moved to Hamilton, MT, and many other things have priority now, so this mower has to go.

    I would like to clarify some things. Before leaving I had prearranged the deal with eBay Motors so my presence isn't necessary. They won't give me any money until you receive and test the mower. The mower is at the shipping company, ready to be delivered. The delivery process is managed by me. You got 5 days to test and inspect the  mower. So if you want to make this deal I need the following details from you: full name, shipping address and phone number. Once I got all the details, I will forward them to eBay and they will proceed with the order. They'll email you with all the information that you need to complete this deal and also they will confirm that the deal is conducted through them and I'm a legitimate seller. Waiting for your email with the requested details. Please let`s not waste each other`s time if you are not decided/interested to buy it.
