You took the only action you could, once you decided to cancel. You blocked your credit card. Once you decided to cancel, and they prevented your cancellation by having no way to do so, their charges after that point became unauthorized. The alternative, that they keep taking your money for the rest of your life, is absurd.
You dispute any unauthorized charges through your credit card company, including in your dispute that they cut off phone access to try to prevent your cancellation.

If you lost money due to unauthorized charges, file a complaint with the Illinois Attorney General, but still make sure you dispute any charges through your bank immediately, since if the company turns out to be insolvent, bank disputes within 60 days may still push the loss back on this company's payment processor and retrieve your money.
