Adding items, upcharging for 'free' items

I ordered the chef basket advertised on televion, online. When asked if I wanted to upgrade to the higher quality basket I agreed.  I was to get a free upgrade basket and free knife with 1 additional ship/handle charge. The total should have been about $45.00.  When the final screen came up I was charged for 2 deluxe baskets, 1 knife set, 2 'free' knives, and the original basked that should have been removed when I upgraded to the deluxe basket.  The final total was $88.90, with no way of canceling the order, no telephone number or contact information, and the first time that a 3-6 week delivery time was outlined.  I called my bank to cancel, but since the charge hasn't hit yet I have to wait.  No telling what will be added on by the time the charge hits.

    I had the same experience as everyone has indicated. I did receive my Baskets and knife. And Charge for $26.97. That was for two baskets and upgrade to deluxe. I called them and told them to cancel the order. And that was over month ago, and I received a card in mail stating my order was on back order. But if I did not want the product to sign and send card back. And I mailed the card today. And received the product two hours later after mailing the card. So, we are going to keep the product but I'm going to cancel my Credit Card. I told them they should not charge you for something you did not approve after you have agreed to purchase the product. They told me I would need to call the other company to cancel the charges. I have not received any charges from this other company. But I'm going to cancel my card and never do business with this company. I suggest everyone report them to the BBB

    They are scamming people. They promise a free additional basket and knife, then charge extra for it without a proper billing or information. Very BAD company.

    ALWAYS check complaints first.
    I've never ordered from a TV commercial and never will.

    I saw these chef baskets at Dollar Gen and they look cheaply made so I didn't even bother with it, plus they didn't have a price on the display or the box.

    Don't be a sucker for the TV commercials!

    Yup me too!  Doubled everything and scammed on the shipping also doubled and not refundable.  Plus if you really want one of these things they are 5 bucks cheaper at Target!  We need to create a streamlined way to punish companies like this that doesn't cost the taxpayers as much!  ChefBasket is in Van Nuys, California - not NY.

    Terrible company.  My husband ordered by phone, said no to everything (upgrades, offers, etc.) and was supposed to be charged about $28 (including shipping) for the Chef Basket with free knife and a second set free.  The total was $63.84.  We had to pay $11.49 in postage to ship it all back and they want to keep $14 in shipping and handling charges.  This is cheap junk and we were SO taken.  We disputed with our credit card and we're hoping that they can reverse the shipping charges as well, but we could be out $25 for nothing.
    We also noticed a little postcard that we thought was an advertisement for magazines in the mail.  Good thing we read it including the small print.  We had been signed up for a magazine rewards club that would have cost us $14.95 a month for 4 years!  We called the number to cancel and sure enough, it was because of Chef Basket.  Our advice... DON'T order from this company!

    I ordered 1 dog collar & leash i got 1 free with extra shipping cost I get 6 of them and a outragous charge of $100 I called that day to cancel and was told my order wasn't in the system yet but I could call back to check to be sure the order had been canceled.  I did that and was told it was still on back order but I could cancel so I requested that and got a confirmation number.  The phone number I called was also 1-800-777-4034.
    they hung up on me every time i called...they acted concerned while they stoled money from me  " DON"T ORDER FROM THEM "  RIP OFF

    DO NOT ORDER THE CHEF BASKET!!!!!!!!!!!    I was going to order the chef basket for Christmas gifts so I put an order in for 4 basket sets and according to everything you read the purchase should have been $40 plus shipping and handling.  I keep passing the other offers continually pushing "no thanks".  Then when it came to the end of the order I expected to see a total purchase order and an option to continue with the order or not, that option was NEVER given to me!!!! At that point they charged me 70 additional dollars in what they called processing fees!  And the order had already been processed without my consent!  I was fuming!  I immediately called my bank and closed out my card.   I now have to wait to make sure the 118 dollar purchase that was only supposed to be 48 does not hit my account!!! I am without a card cause I had to close it out and order a new one!!! This seems completely illegal to me and is a TOTAL SCAM!!!!!!!!  I am trying to warn the next buyer before they make the same mistakes!   I hope the canceling and closing of the card IMMEDIATELY after the issue helps me from running into the same issues that some of the above people have had.  Again DO NOT BUY THE CHEF BASKET!!!!!!

    I ordered a Lint Lizard and received a $15 www.telebrands.com gift certificate as part of the order....now www.telebrands.com does not come in after clicking on several options and variations of links under search on the web. Therefore, I am now screwed outof the deal that I would receive as part of my agreement in the order!

    I ordered a ring for my wife from Sterling Collections.  When the package arrived it contained an invoice and certificate of authenticity (I did mention the ring because it was not in the envelope).  I called the number on the invoice and found that the woman I was talking to had no personality at all.  She was reading.  She proceeded to tell me that another ring was being sent along with a pair of FREE diamond earrings and a matching necklace.  When I told her that I had declined the necklace the first time I called she told me that the necklace automatically comes with the order, just put the necklace back in the envelope and return it.  SMART HUH!!!  When I got off the phone my wife who was listening to the call told me to call the bank immediately.  They cancelled my card on the spot.  NEVER AGAIN!!  STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE.  EVERY STORE THESE DAYS HAVE AN 'AS SEEN ON TV' SECTION.  AT LEAST YOU WILL GET A RECEIPT!

      Sorry u all got scammed. But as soon as I saw that I wouldn't. Get the double offer "as seen on TV " I new it was.wrong & then instead of 10 $ it was 12.99 . So I hunted for complaints wow to many to read. Someone needs to stop this sight. Do lets all get together & stop it. I'm not vet tech wise. But I've got grit. My contact is jomama.43@Google.com.

    They did the same thing with me. I ordered one slice-o-matic but never checked out just left it in my basket and closed the browser. A few days later I get a package in the mail open it up and there is 3 slice-o-matics. 50+ bucks they charged me with out me even checking out. strange, but I called Target and they said I could bring them there and they would buy them back. So I made 10 bucks off the deal and got to keep one of them.

    I ordered 2 Sticky Buddy's and they sent me 4 and a bill for $43.98.As we all know their gift certificate is another rip off and am contacting the Attorney General.This company is nothing but a bunch of thieves !!!!!!

    ordered flip pans so they sent me a15.00 rewards card .so i thought i would order more since i was getting 15.00 off not true .not true .no where to put your code they process the order before letting you see the total. these people are rip offs . these coupons are so they can make you believe you will 15.00 free. all for them to stick it to you again.

    I like to say thank you all, and im sorry to hear the ripoff comments, i was just about to use the 15 off but after reading the last post I did not. its so sad that people are always tring to rip us off and yes when you call them they try and upgrade you with everything else you dont want. so now we know we can get it from the store and see what you really paid for. Thank you all!

    Thank you for the warnings. I ordered Hurricane Spin Mop, which I received fast. I wanted to
    use my rewards card for 15 $. Now I am afraid to use it, I wanted to save with the card, not
    pay additionally. The Shipping and handling is way to expensive.
