I received calls from number951-489-0230 and 508-499-7181, it’s the same company asking about money that was deposited into my account. They know what bank I had but were very rude and hung up on me. They are also calling me at work.

They are a fake "payday loan debt collection" scam, calling from overseas, probably India or Pakistan.

    Their "debts" are fake.
They can't carry out their threats.
They are just a bunch of criminals, regardless of what information they have.

Report them to the FBI, although it is unlikely anything will be done about them.

If they keep calling, tell them you are recording the call as evidence.

DO NOT CONFIRM ANYTHING WITH THEM! I have been dealing with them too. As a precaution I closed my old accounts and opened new ones with high alert status on them. I also filed a police report with all the different numbers that have been calling. It is a major scam. Unfortunately as soon as they can trace the phone number they ditch it and get a new number....basically is a waiting game. They will give up eventually and move on to the next person.

The quickest and most efficient way to get this case moving is to speak with a consumer attorney. I know of one who gives free consultations- and has been of aid to me in the past. Try emailing INFO@Bergerpc.com to see if there's something Richard Berger could do for you. Couldn't hurt right? :)

Court Halts Alleged Fake Debt Collector Calls from India, Grants FTC Request to Stop Defendants Who Often Posed as Law Enforcement
At the request of the Federal Trade Commission, a U.S. district court has halted an operation that the FTC alleges collected phantom payday loan “debts” that consumers did not owe.  Consumers received millions of collection calls from India, and that since January 2010 the operation took in more than $5 million from victims, according to the FTC.
