Causes allergic reaction to material on furniture

The material on our furniture is causing skin rashes and breathing problems when set on the furniture. I have to keep covers on the furniture at all times. We wondered why our little grandaughter was always getting coughing spells and asthma attacks when she was sleeping on the pull out couch or sitting in the recliners. We would move her to another place to sleep or sit somewhere else or we completely keep it covered and she was fine. This continued to happen every time she tries to sleep on our couch or she is on the recliners. I was sleeping one day in my recliner with just a pair of shorts on and when I got up I was itchy and had a rash on my back ,the back of my arms and the back of my legs where ever the chair touched me. My wife and I both were getting stuffed up heads and when we sit on the furniture. So now we keep all three pieces of the furniture completely covered at all times to avoid all of the health issues.
The furniture is very comfortable, but we can't enjoy it without covering it all the time and the worry of our Granddauaghter getting sick from it or my wife an myself feeling miserable when we sit or lay on it.
