deceptive and unhelpful

Country: United States
I rented a car through CarRentals.com with Fox Car Rentals out of San Francisco Airport and had nothing but problems with the whole experience. First of all the drop off time was wrong and when I contacted Fox they said it was because I booked through a third party namely carrentals.com. They told me I would pay more even though it was only 20 minutes after I booked the car on my computer and the correct details were still on my computer screen.
Despite this I agreed to the extra charge reluctantly thinking it to be only $4. I had problems picking the car up as they would not allow me to use my wife's free American express insurance coverage so had to pay another $20 and I signed an invoice for $101.
When I dropped off the car I was told I was 11 hours late and they gave me a receipt for $177.
I went to the desk to complain but the 5 people in front of me were all complaining about something and after over an hour of waiting I gave up and decided to telephone the next day.
As it turned out Fox is not 24hours and had to call on Monday to no avail as they simply ignored and dismissed everything I said and claimed that the notes on there computer stated I was aware of the late fee despite the fact that they state that all calls are recorded.
I discovered there were other things added to my bill that I never agreed to as well but they said that it was all there in the small print despite the fact that I specifically asked their assistant on the day that $101 was all I would have to pay and no more.
I complained to CarRentals.com and pointed out the multitude of complaints about Fox on the internet and asked why they allowed a company like this to use their website. I never got an answer to my second question and they simply said about my complaint that I had signed the form despite it clearly showing only $101 and made no mention of the additional charges until the final receipt.
I recommend you do not use CarRentals.com and never book a car with Fox Car rentals as they are deceitful and scam customers.
