Defrosting Service Call

I had a service call for our refrigerator (Whirlpool Model #ET1CHMXKQ03)for ice buildup in the freezer and refrigerator sections. The technecian said the freezer was not defrosting poured hot water to remedy the problem. He said if this happens again I would have to order a heating element. He also said if this if this did not work, I would have to buy a new refrgerator since thre was nothing else that could be done. The heating element did not work and I purchased a new refrigerator. I put the old refrigerator in the garage and a couple weeks later transferred it to my basement. I am currently using it as and it is working fine. I amm very upset that I had to purchase a new refigerator.
