I was surprised when I saw on the web page of the First Horizon online payment facility that a fee will start being assessed. I called First Horizon and they said it would be $11.00. I fail to understand why a fee needs to be assessed. I am not going to pay online anymore.! It saddens me because I pay ALL my bills online and First Horizon is the only one charging a fee. I would think most companies would want their customers to use the internet for transactions because it is cheaper. Won't it cost more for First Horizon to process checks now if many people will not use the pay online option anymore because of the $11 fee and send in their checks instead? Hopefully enough customers will complain and we can have free online payment processing again.

I agree completely.  First Horizon is out to lunch on this decision.  I called them and told them as much.  It's funny that just last week I rec'd a marketing package and a follow-up phone call asking me to consider using other First Horizon services (e.g., checking, credit cards, etc).  Dream on.  Like Toni, I hope First Horizon has fun processing my check each month.

I am outraged that FH is going to start charging an $11.00 fee. Where do they come up with that figure anyway? Maybe they assume people will read it as $1.00. It's 2007, folks. We expect free online payment. I will be paying by mail and hoping that they have to hire more employees to process the mail. Jerks.

    Rip Off
First Horizon has indeed turned greedy! From free to an $11.00 charge to pay THEM money. I called First Horizon and a customer service person said it was a "business decision" to place the "convenience charge" in place. Some convenience! Some company! Great business decision! Here's my check by mail! Hire more people to process the checks. Welcome to the modern world at First Horizon.

I recommend that everyone with this complaint send a letter to the CEO:

    Pete F. Makowiecki
    First Horizon Home Loan

I sent mine today!!  I called and was told that it was only a courtesy that the $11 fee was removed for on-time payments. Voice your complaints!!!!

I totally agree that this fee is outrageous.  I have gone back to paying by check myself.  I've sent them emails about this and they came back saying that I could use the autodraft payment program.  I'm not interested in that since I pay more each month depending on how much I make for the month.

Was the $11 a ONE-time fee or per month?
