Charges and cancellation of service

I used to have Direct TV at a previous residence and when I moved to a house we did not want to take Direct TV with us as they could not offer at the time a good package so they advised me to put the account on hold for 6 months. 2 days ago I received a bill for $71.61 from them and immediately called and had the unfortunate task to have to deal with a girl on the phone who once again kept saying I can't do that and I can't do this I can only process the cancellation. I was told that they sent out an email to advise me that the service was about to restart but I did not reply...I told her I did not receive it as I would have replied then. MMM not her fault so I have to pay a penalty for cancelling my service early not which is going to be about $40, then I have to mail back to them the equipment but in the meantime my account will be charged with them until they receive them which will take approx 21 days so more charges. Oh on top of that I will be charged for the service from the end of April until 20th May as I did not cancel till then, not that it is connected anywhere as I no longer live in the address that it was connected at. I will never deal with them again and she could not tell me what my bill was going to be but if I did not pay it by the due date then they would just take it from the account they have on file there. I am disgusted with them and the way that they portray a great customer service. DO NOT USE THEM!!!!
