Misrepresentation of the Insurance coverage
Complaint
Europcar Sucks
Country: Norway
I recently rented a car from EUROPCAR rental in Norway, I was told at the time of the rental that I have full insurance coverage on the car. I checked the car but didnt see any visiable damage on the car, I returned it to a different location. I get a msg the following day informing that I will be charged for the damage done to the car with, I was sent some pics of scratches and what appears to be a big scratch on the very bottow on the front fender. This is not something that you would notice unless you really pay attention to. After the email , I went to location that the car was rented from and asked to see the damage, and I was told that the car is out on a rental. If i dont agree with the damages shown in the images just send a msg to customer service.
after 2 weeks, I get a reponse saying we have decided that since you agreed and signed upon the rental of the car that there were no visible damage on the car, you will be charged with the repair cost , in addition the lost of income due to the damage.
when I asked about the insurance coverage , I was told that no this does not cover the damage done to the car. additionaly EUROPCAR Norway does not offer full insurance. So I paid for insurance on a car that does not provide any insurance, how does that make sense, futher tells me that we are sorry to inform you that we dont have to tell you nor explain to you the insurance coverage, and what does that include.
This is very poor service, and misuse of the system, and taking advantage of people who simply order cars from online and expect that what you get is what is actually advertised on the web.
Folks be aware, and avoid Europcar in Norway. they will not offer you insurance , just falsely advertise that they do and charge you a fee for it and say that you have full insurance.
