Booked from the states a automatic car at Lamezia- Terme at the airport in Calabria. Arrived at the airport on a Thurs afternoon, I had called on Tue to confirm that they had the car and of course I was told yes. Upon arrival I was told that the car was not available because the person before me was in an accident and the car was totally destroyed, but not to fear because they would have a car for me on Sunday (4 days later). We had hotel reservation in Palmi, 100 Km from Lamezia (about 60 miles). I told them that the confirmation was for an automatic. The clerk wanted to know if one of my relatives could drive me back on Sunday. I have no relatives in that part of the country. Please keep in mind that I speak Italian fluently and communication was not the problem. We had to hire a Taxi at the tune of Euro 130.00 ( $200.00). When I reached my destination I called the company to reverse the charges to which they said it would take 7 to 10 days. I told the clerk to let me speak to a manager, to which she said one was not available. I told her that I was in computers and that I would put as many blogs as I could about Locautorent. I was quickly transferred to a manager, I asked him which language he preferred to speak, English or Italian, he said English would be fine. After I told him of the problem he said that it would take 3-4 days to verify that I did not pick up the car. Again I explained to him my knowledge of systems and that he could see as we were speaking that in fact I had not picked up the car. Next day the charges were reversed. I asked him about the refund of the Taxi fee. He told me that I could do it on line, There is no place on their site to enter disputes. What would someone do if they did not speak Italian.
Be careful of this company.
