A call came from a black man calling himself "Coach James" to my elderly fathers phone, claiming a get rich scheme. He was told that he could earn $10,000 per month. He was invited to a webinar where he would learn more about making this money, and then the man repeatedly called back asking him if he had went on the internet to look at the website. I decided to call the number back myself, and "coach james" refused to tell me what company he was working for, or identify his business. He wanted to know who to take off the list, and would not call back. I told him that he had been calling my father several times, and I was calling the cops.

they use a mix of deception, "pushy selling" to belligerent intimidation to con people they target as vulnerable for this type of con.  Used to be this scam was run by mob connected boiler rooms in Florida and Buffalo NY, until the FBI shut them down in the '90s and they moved on to other scams like "debt collection".  These days, they're mostly Jamaicans calling from 876 area code.
