We moved into a 1-year-old condo in December 2008 that came with all new kitchen appliances, including a Frigidaire microwave, Model Number: FMV156DCG.
Half of the plastic handle broke off for no apparent reason; we barely even use the microwave.  A new plastic handle will cost $127.98 plus tax.
We can buy a new microwave for that amount.  It is absolutely ridiculous and I would highly recommend that no one buy frigidaire microwaves.

Agreed! Just googled since our handle broke off too for no apparent reason on the same microwave! Piece of crap.

Neither will I buy one--we also moved into a new house.  The microwave had been used very little, and the handle broke while I was cleaning it.  Crap is just what I think it is.  Re:  Frigidaire Model FMV156DCG

We also bought a new house with appliances.  We bought it in 2009 and it included this same peice of crap.  Not only did the handle brake in no time at all, but the door started to warp and bind ever time you open the door.  Any piece seems to cost as much as a whole new microwave.  NEVER buy this if youcan help it.

We had the same issue - it came as part of the condo's package in 2004. Anyhoo, instead of throwing the MW or buying the ridiculously $$$ handle ($100...ya, right!), we made a makeshift wooden handle (using a 2x2 and a piece of trim, handsaw...no fancy power tools needed) and used screws w/ sleeves. It's an easy repair - open the door, gently pop the black plastic trim (use any thin edge of cutlery), take out the old ones and put in the new screws. The sleeve part of the screw goes into the wooden handle. Worked like a charm!
The design of their plastic version is really stupid. Plus the fact that only 2 measly 1/2" screws hold it up! That handle has to take a lot of pulling force. Hope this helps.

Our handle broke off and we purchased a replacement handle for over $65.  and replaced it ourselves.  It broke again within a month.

we have had our Frigidaire glass top oven and microwave for 13 months. our large front burner quit working and our over the range microwave oven handle broke. it was not abused or misused. the handle is 80.00 to replace. it is a piece of plastic!! I figured it would be 25.00 at most. I will never invest in Frigidaire products again!!! I hope this helps someone else out. I can get a whole microwave from walmart for less than 80.00 . my last one lasted me nine years.
