i responded to an add to the Times Union newspaper which is the primary newspaper in our state capital Albany New York. the banks name was Pioneer Lending Resources. They stated that i could receive a 5,000 dollar loan if i sent them $626.72 money gram and the loan would be deposited into my account within 2-4 hours. i did and so did 5 other employees at my job. i personally waited 24 hours and checked my account, the money was never there. i called the company and they kept saying that the woman who i spoke to was out and they would send me to voicemail. then i called again with a fake name to see whatthey would say and to my surprise the name that i had made up was approved for the loan and they even received a payment (that was actually never sent). neither one of my co-workers received their payment and anytime we call we always get sent to voicemail or hung up on

Also file a complaint with your local police, and contact the Times Union to notify them about the fraudulent ad they are running.

Where did they request that you wire money to?

This company is now also going by Pine Tree Lending.  I asked if they were members of the BBB and she said "no, because other companies with similar names were getting mixed up with theirs".  Luckily I thought it smelled like a scam and have never sent any money in.  I do wonder if they could do anything with my phone number or address since they did have that from the loan I had applied for.  Just in case I have also put a 'fraud' alert on my credit report (free and easy to do if interested just go to one of the credit reporting agency websites.  It lasts for 90 days if you don't renew it but you can renew it as often as you like.)
