I have been a customer with Rogers since 2006. I was new at the time and did not know about roaming charges. Although, I was not using my phone, I got a bill of $2300 for one day and $2100 for internet. They cancelled my phone that day and told me to pay right away. I did pay the $2300 but I felt that $2100 for internet was ridiculous since I did not use the phone or the internet. 3 years after my contract, I found out that they had renewed my contract for another 3 years without my knowledge, so when I tried to change plans I was told that my contract would change that day and be tied up with another 3 year contract with internet usage which I never used (close to an extra $100 a month). Well, I have not used my phone for close to a year since I have been out of the country. I felt their rates were very expensive. They talked me into signing for $12.00 a month to keep my phone number. After more than a year I decided to close my account. I was told by the first customer service representative that since I paid my monthly bill that I would not be charged extra for closing the account (remember I haven't used it for more than a year). So, eventually they transferred me to customer service after talking to two more people. The last person said that I would be charged for another month (30 days) since they would close the account 30 days from whence I called. I said but I haven't used it for more than a year, and the first person that I talked to said I would not be charged since I paid by bill which was due still Oct 8. I paid it September 17, 2013. But Jason, the customer representative said that that is the rule. 30 days from when I called. I said but there will be no more charges on the phone even if you wait 30 days since I don't have the phone and I have not used it for more than a year. I just get charged $12.00 a month plus tax charges, etc. What kind of crap is that????
