Bank Fraud
Complaint
Charles Guthrie
Country: United States
I got out of the hospital resently, and when I checked my bank statement befor paying bills I found that 5222 DRI*REG.NET-HEALTH withdrew $69.95 from my checking account. I do not know who these people are, and they were not authorized to receive such funds. On top of this, I was not able to pay my electric bill due to the unexpected withdraw of cash, and my electricity is being cut off.

Contact your bank immediately to dispute unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and cancel that account number to prevent future fraudulent charges. Follow up with a written dispute sent to your bank's dispute address on your statement, sent certified return receipt requested, and make sure your bank receives your dispute in less than 60 days from the statement date showing the disputed charge to preserve your FRB Reg. E or FCBA dispute rights.
Dispute it through your bank. Otherwise, if they use promises to delay your bank dispute, and 60 days passes from the statement date showing the fraudulent charge, you lose your federal dispute rights. They know this.
Although FTC should be dealing with some of this, state Attorneys General are the most effective at combatting fraud.
The Senate Commerce Committee has recently been looking into widespread small charges fraud, particularly by "discount club" companies. See Senator Jay Rockefeller's website.
The only way to address this would be to get onto national TV showing the scam and the physical business. Odds on this happening? Snowball in Hell!
