Charges for equipment failure less than one year

I have the deluxe package of equipment from Directv. After less than one year, the equipment is failing, probably a faulty transponder or receiver so I can't receive several of the channels. "error 771"

They will not fix this 'new' equipment; telling me I have to pay for the service calls.
Rather than pay, their refusal to include Pac12 Net and likely refusal to make a deal with the upcoming Foxsports 1 means I'll terminate service and go to Dish.
