Monthly charges I did not expect

I followed an ad to get a free credit report from "Free Credit Report" (http://www.freecreditreport.com/). I didn't expect it was part of a free membership trial, and I will be charged 12.95 monthly after the first month. I saw two charges from them on my bank statement. When I try to get a hold of someone on the phone, I'm put on hold for 30 minutes and then the call is hung up each time.

I called their phone number 1-800-220-2626, and they said if i would have read the TERMS (be sure to read these, I know I will from now on) that I agreed to, I would see that if I didn't cancel within 30 days I would be charged 9.95 a month. (which by the way, there were two offers, one of them was a one time charge, one was a membership).
After talking to a customer service rep., and being told they could only refund 19.90 of the charges, I asked to speak to a supervisor, and in talking to her found that they did not even have record of one charge and insisted they could only refund me 19.90. They did cancel my account, and refund me 29.85 of the 39.80 they charged me. (or so they say, I will let you know in 7 - 10 days). So in the end, I did end up paying 9.95 for the report and 5.00 for the score, and that is ok with me.
If you are like me, and pay your bills online, I hardly ever look at my CC statement, but I am glad I did this time. If you have asked for a credit report, I would be sure to check your statement too.
