My husband was contacted by a man who said his name was Matthew Bcousta from American Auto Benefits from Pheonix Arizona, and even gave him an employee id number # AS91905. He told my husband that if he paid $1.95 for shipping/handling that he would receieve a $200 gas card..Well my husband gave him the number from his Visa debit card because there was no money on it at the time, but a few days later when he got paid, we were $60 short..they got our last $60.  I told him he shouldn't have given out the number, but he thought since there was not money on it at the time, that this guy couldn't get anything from him..so BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY..THEY ARE SCAMMERS!

Contact your bank immediately to dispute the charge as fraudulent, since you did NOT agree to it.  Your bank can reverse unauthorized charges if you dispute promptly, in this case under FRB Reg. E, which covers disputes of EFT and debit card charges to checking accounts.  Follow up with a fraud affidavit.

You should also block that card number to prevent additional fraudulent charges.

Telemarketing scam.  Several other numbers have been calling me, saying I have won  a 200 dollar card, and that I was one of 25 people chosen nationally. American Auto-Benefits located in Phoenix AZ, representative: Mike and his ID: AB4120. I  indulged them long enough to confirm that they were lying. Wanted my credit card number, I told them I didn't have it memorized and to call back tomorrow. Never received word. Called each number back, and only two numbers were in service so I hit one to be removed from the list. Unfortunately I had already given them my home address. I registered a complaint with the FCC, told my bank to be alert and am watching my mail (e-mail as well) very closely. You never know what can be dug up with just your address. If there is a way to undo the potential damage please let me know.
