Don't buy online from Frederick's of Hollywood! Over a year after my purchase, a charge of 69.99 appeared on my credit card for a membership in some sort of entertainment club. I called the phone number next to the charge, which is 888-446-4923. Apparently, they handle billing for something like 80 other stores that do the same thing. I was told I will be credited, but it will take 2 billing cycles! What a scam! READ ALL THE FINE PRINT WHEN YOU SHOP ONLINE. Evidently, it was buried in their disclosures, but I have yet to find it.

Dispute it thru your credit card company.  You must do this, in writing, within 60 days of the statement date on which the unauthorized charge appears, or you lose your FCBA dispute rights.

If you let it stand for "2 billing cycles", you will have lost your CC dispute rights thru your CC company, and if they don't reverse the charge, your only recourse will probably be to sue them.  Yeah, right!  for $70, and probably in some other state.

Sounds like they are trying to string you along.

If they had intended to make a legitimate offer to you, with a disclosed price and disclosed terms, giving you the choice of accepting or rejecting it, they wouldn't have buried it in fine print associated with an order for merchandise with an entirely different company.  File an FTC complaint, as well as a complaint with your state AG, for intentionally deceptive trade practices.

A year after the original product purchase, with no written confirmation of the alleged agreement terms at the time they claimed they signed you up?  How does that even meet VISA or MasterCard merchant contract terms?

If you even backorder a consumer shipment for more than 90 days, FTC requires you to either reconfirm the consumer's order before shipping, or allow the consumer to cancel.

i had the same thing happen to me, but when i checked into it, they had charged me for 3 years in a row before i caught it.  they were very quick to agree to cancel the most recent charges, but of course are not willing to refund the other 2 years.  i have written a complaint to the attorney general and asked them to check out this fraudulent practice.  in my case, i was never asked to "join" such a club or told i was in one.  a true scam.  was the person who wrote the original complaint ever told she was in this "club" or did she just find out from her bank statement?

I just purchased something from Fredericks on the phone (not on line) I was never read anything about these membership services. I got my package with the invoice and was charged for just my purchase! Then I checked my credit card statement and noticed a charge for $79.99 for membership services, 2 shipping charges PLUS my purchase!  I contacted Fredericks where they stated that Fredericks automatically signs you up for membership services!  They could not credit my account that I needed to contact membership services (888) 446-4923.  I contacted membership services where they said they would credit my account however it may not appear for 2 billing cycles!  I asked for a physical street address and they said they have a po box.  P.O. Box 5265, Hopkins, MN 55346.

Fredericks just lost a customer!  I will let all my friends know about the not trust I now have in Fredericks!!!!!!!  I will be writing a letter to the Attorney General and would strongly suggest everyone else do so.

I noticed the unauthorized charge, and I'm disputing it right now.
This is such a scam. I think I bought something more than a year ago in one of their shops and they never showed me any membership agreements of any sort.
I am going to report them to Better Business Bureau as soon as I hang up with my CC company.
Thanks to all of you for the posts!

The same thing just happened to me!  The [***] Fredericks people have been [***] us for 3 years before I caught it.  Read your credit card bills carefully. Fredericks has been ripping us off $69.99 for 3 years. The woman at Fredericks was INCREDIBLY bitchy about it too. I will NEVER shop in their stores or online again.

The same thing happened to me! $79.99 was debited from my account, creating an overdraft fee which they will not refund. They were incredibly rude and told me that we should read the fine print better. The manager is Angenette - I think if we all call to complain to the same person something will be done. 602-760-2111 is the phone number.

The same thing happened to me except i had canceled the order because they told me my card wouldnt work.  last month i saw they took 79.99 out of my account, a year later so i went back to my bank statement from a year ago and i had never noticed they had took out the same amount so i called the number and the lady said i or my card was not in their records.  i put in a dispute and it finally went through so i got the 79.99 they took this year but not the one they took last year.

The same thing happened to me! $79.99 was debited from my account.
The manager is and she is very rude!.... they said they will refund the 79.99 its just so rude i am so anal about reading the fine print, when i called to complain, she told me the only way for this to happen is that i had to enter my e-mail address and click on the box agreeing to pay 79.99 per year, for discounts on hair products and salons, me being a man with a shaved head just trying to buy a kinky outfit for our honey moon i can assure you i have no need for hair care products...... its ridiculous.

I had ordered by phone a garment and they must have put me on this list. I caught the whole thing after they had charged me a bunch of times. i called them and got nowhere. so i sent them certified return reciept letters threatening them with reporting them to SEC and the attorney generals office (my state and also arizona, their state) for scamming and
"using my credit card without any permission whatsoever". They did not act fast enough for me so i did what I threatened to do and the attorney generals office in arizona sent them my complaint form. then they reimbursed my master card for all the years they had charged me 69.99. Then they sent the Arizona attorney office a letter -acting real innocent nd claiming that they were shocked i reported them because they had given my money back! Arizona Attorney general office has a form online to fill out - easy to do.  My state Attorney general sent the complaint to the SEC because they thought it was serious enough an issue to do so. I got back all the money they charged me for and now I would not order something from them if they were the last store on the planet. they are a bunch of theives as far as im concerned.

I placed an online order on July 10th, received an email on July 14 that the order was shipped, and today, August 10th, I have yet to receive anything from them. I called over the weekend and the representative gave me some bullsh*t excuse about shipping time (standard being 7-9 business days). Today is the 19th business day...and they are getting an a$$ chewing tomorrow morning. :)

Great, after reading all of the above now I have to keep checking my account for these charges. My problem so far is a tad different. I returned an item into the store (because I got the exact same gift that I had just bought for my birthday, creepy how my boyfriend and I think a like)and I had purchased it using my debit account, not credit. I expected that the money would pop up in a few days, week at the most, how long can it take? Well Im still waiting, I filed a dispute with Union Bank, but they seem to be just as slow as FOH  people are, so now I get to deal with two idiotic companies, each blaming each other for the money that is "magically" missing, must be floating around where the little elves who steal socks live.
Personally, at this point after reading the above, I have a strong feeling the problem may lay with FOH, and not with my bank.
From now on I'm going to stick to Vicotria, never had a problem with her, and it seems the FOH has more dirty secrets! SCAMMING PEOPLE FOR THEIR MONEY!!!

I made a purchase by phone for a $27.56 garment in 7/08.  On 7/09 I saw a charge for $79.99 for some membership program.  When I called Frederick's to ask about the charge they said it was for some glamour membership. I told them I didn't sign up for and didn't authorize them to deduct from my credit card account.  The guy at Frederick's was rude and said they'd cancel the membership and refund the $79.99.  He said it would take two billing cycles.  I reported it to my credit card company and they made a record but said it was better if I could resolve it with Frederick's.  When I went back to look at the initial bill I discovered that they charged me $79.99 when I placed my order and I didn't catch it.

Two cycles passed and no refund.  I called a few days ago and was told they had no record of my call.  Unbelievable!  I asked for a street address so I could send a registered letter.  No street address.  You can't send a registered letter to a P.O. Box.  I filed a complain with the Maryland State Attorney's Office and the Better Business Bureau and they have spoken with Fredericks.  No resolution yet but I did receive a cancellation form in the mail today from Fredericks that said once they review my request I may or may not get a refund.  They are slimes.  I will never order from them again and will tell everyone I know about this horrible practice.  It is Consumer Fraud and needs to be shopped.
