Refinance Issues
Complaint

In May, 2012 I contacted Bank of America to do a cash out refinance my mortgage. I was initially told that my credit was good and that we should be closed by the end of June. I got a call mid June and they said they were set to close by the end of the week. Since an appraiser never came out I contacted my loan officer and asked him what was going on. He said he made a mistake and set it up as a simple restructuring instead of a cash out refi. He said he'd setup the appraisal. About a week later I got a call from the loan officer and he was asking why I wanted an appraisal done if it was a restructuring. For the 3rd time I explained to him that it was a cash out refinance. By this time we're into August. A couple of WEEKS go by after the appraisal and I hear nothing from the loan officer so I decide to call him. That's when he decides to tell me that he needs some documents from me. I immediately sent them over and again don't hear from him for an extended period of time. Now we're into August (keep in mind I was initially told we would close by the end of June). I try calling him again in the beginning of June and his extension didn't work. Come to find out, he was no longer with Bank of America and nobody bothered to tell me. After 2 days I was finally able to track down my new loan officer. He told me that we would definitely be closed by August 13th because that's 90 days from my initially call and they always close within 90 days. August 13th comes and goes. Another lady was also involved with my loan and she decided 3 months later to tell me that I needed to submit some bank documents. This was never communicated to me for 3 months. On 8/16 I got a call from my loan officer and he said that the initial credit report was only good for 90 days so they had to run another one (which they did without my consent). The credit score came in slightly lower so he advised me that my rate would go up. Basically I'm paying for their inability to close a refinance within 90 days. Unreal. On 8/17 I get an email from BOA telling me that they need to know when I owned a rental property and when I sold it. I already explained this to my first loan officer but I told this lady that it was an apartment that I rented approx 10 years ago and I didn't own it. On 8/20, I called her to confirm she got the email and that there would be no further delays.....only to find out she's on vacation and that another woman was covering for her while she was out, so I called her. I left her a vm message and her recording said she would call back within 24 hours. It's 3 DAYS later and still no call back. I also left a message for my loan officer and a supervisor today but nobody returns calls at Bank of America. This was only a brief summary of what happened. There were numerous other emails and phone calls that I made to the loan officers and supervisors to try and get things moving. Today is exactly 100 days since my initial call to Bank of America and I still don't have a closing date. If you'd like to save yourself from countless headaches and would like to close on a loan within a normal time frame then I suggest you don't deal with Bank of America. They seem to be very unorganized and they certainly don't know how to treat their customers.
Keep in mind that it only took me 60 days to close on my house when I initially bought it. It's taking 40+ days longer at this point.....and counting. To make matters worse....my current mortgage is already with BOA so it shouldn't be that hard to refinance with them since I'm already with them. This bank is a complete joke!!!!!!!!!! Don't waste your time with them!!!!!
