I continue to receive a collection bill from verizon wireless I n which I have never applied.  I really think my idenity was stolen.

    Contact Verizon's fraud department to determine whether someone has opened a fraudulent account with your identity.  If so, file an id theft complaint with your local police, and get a copy of the report to use in forcing the creditor to cease collection from you.  Also check your credit reports, all 3, and use copies of your police report to dispute fraudulent account posting found there.

    Are you being contacted by Verizon, or by a collection agency?

    If a collection agency, then send a written dispute and request for validation to the collection agency, mailed certified, return receipt requested.

    There are a number of collection agencies that have been caught attempting to fraudulently collect telecom accounts from the wrong people.
